morning all
Oh Chrissy you have made me laugh, i was just thinking thats me wondering how (and why) people climb up into the most dangerous places to graffiti, but a giraffe up on high yes i'd definitely wonder how that got there.
i hope everyone is well on this damp and dreary morning but the best thing about it is its friday next stop weekend!!!!!!
DS2 is going up the smoke at the weekend to see Les Mis (why do i always say up to London when im in the east mids???? ive been told by someone who picked me up on its its an old railway term they asked if my dad worked on the lines and i got it from him, but ive never had anything to do with railways (unless it was in a past life DOO DOO DO DOO - bit of x-files music for you there LOL)

nanamia, thank you for your kind words as ever it cheers me up to think im making someone smile by what i write. and you yourself are such a kind and thoughtful person who seems to remember everything and has the knack of writing just the right thing at the right time. bless you.
OMO thank you for the quotes, they brighten my day and give me something to ponder.
freespirit the meterman is another one, its bad enough he always comes when im mid crafting or ironing session but once ive done the walk of shame through the house i have to take him under the drive (nothing rude intended!) where the meters are and my DH trains. why is his stuff always piled up against the meter boxes when they need reading? he is a fitness junkie so has weights rowing machines boxes to jump off and weighted vests to wear while training. i give myself a work out lugging it all out the way. and meter man always says love to help you but im not allowed to lift things for health and safety so he stands and watches me do it all.
all the poorlies and those with frets and worries a problem shared is a problem halved and all that, sometimes its good to get things off your chest and no one on here would give you anything other than support and sympathy so dont feel you have to bottle things up it you want to get them off your chests. (obviously bear in mind its a public forum and once posted anyone can read it but the regulars are here to support not judge)
went to see Dallas Buyers club last night! was a strange film very very graphic and rude i should have guessed when it was about a guy in the 80s who gets aids and is given 30 days to live, you start off feeling no sympathy for him as he is a rather selfish homophobic man but without spoiling it you end up rather liking him as his prejudices dissolve and he ends up working against the drugs industry to try and get medication into the states for the people that need it but cant get anything other than the one the drug gaints have almost railroaded the drs into giving. like i said long with bad language and graphic drug taking and rude bits but it opened my eyes to some things that went on then. cant believe it was only a 15!!!!
DS2 has gone to school, i need to nip and see if my friend is at her shop so she can say if she likes the leaflet i mackled together for her yesterday, if she did i can copy a few more off, if not ill go back to the drawing board.
not planning on much more than a lazy weekend with my knitting and crafting hope whatever else you all decide to do you have a good one.SPC~12 ot 124

mrs-moneypenny I always go up to everywhere in this country. Even London that is now below me. I put it down to coming from London where most of the country is up. Strangely while typing I have realised I go down to Cornwall, but that's it , everything else up. :rotfl:
j-j I am fine thank you. Had a good nights sleep and feel more with it now.
I have had enough of my house. It is driving me mad. This weekend I am having a big clear out. I feel the clutter has snuck up on me. The rooms are so small it only takes a few things out of place to look like a bomb site. I have ordered a carpet cleaner in the Argos sale to save the lounge carpet. My back doors come straight into that room and Mia just keeps bringing dirt it. It's not her fault, it's just aways wet out. Luckily the carpet is brown so doesn't look to bad, but I know it is filthy.
Hope everyone has a nice day.0 -
his missus - I am really sorry to hear about your loss and thinking of you all today.
Blue_eyed_girl - I am sorry about the extremely sad situation with your niece.Aims for 2014

Despite not really intending to, on Wednesday morning I did pop into my small local Boots close to work at about 9.30 and got a few bits. I only spent £25 as I had already got most things I really needed in their 50% sale, but I did sort another birthday and finish off a relatives xmas gift too.
I did feel a bit thick though, as I couldnt instantly work out a 70% spend like I did with the 75%.
I have spent quite a bit in the sales this year and so got a lot of bdays/xmas done now. I did have cash/vouchers put aside for this, and thats sort of my spending done now until July/August when I will start going for it again.
When I have more time I will post spend V save and how many gifts I have sorted.
Yesterday I had a day off, and in the morning I had my stitches out in my comedy foot (which looks fairly normal now), and had another counselling session in the afternoon, and did lots of cleaning and sorting in the time before and after.
Nanamia - Ha Ha My wrists have been well and truly slapped.I wont hide in future when I have a mini meltdown I promise. I had wh*re red nails over xmas and new year. They had glitter over them and were very tacky but absolutely stunning. It's actually been a very pleasant surprise how many people make nice comments about my nails when I am getting served in shops etc. I am going to chill out a bit with the working extra hours, as I have a full team back in work at the moment.
3forholidays - My nails are currently purple. Its a pealised/metallic finish, and to me looks like a "car colour". It's lovely. I am due to get them done again next Friday (I left them 3 weeks rather than 2 as a experiment to save money) and then I am due a "soak off", so I will be back to starting again and picking a pale colour and working my way up their gel nail colours choosing all the nicest ones.
I think next Friday I will get "barbie nails" again. They will be pale pink and there's a glitter highlight you are supposed to have done on your ring finger and the opposite one, but I got it done on all of my nails last time, and it looked amazing so will get that done again. Tacky nails? Moi? Definately!
Arthien - Loved the description of "KH". At work, so that no one says what I consider the 2 worst possible swear words we call them "Terms and Conditions" (Ts & Cs), though my colleague said that her husband uses "Top Hat" and "Shirt Front" (in a cockney rhyming slang type way). In a previous job I used to have two directors that really didnt get on, and one used to work from home on a Monday and so used to say loudly to the other one on a Friday "C U next tuesday", and told us what it meant and how it always amused him.
Sooooo.,,, I am very childish I know but if ever hear anyone innocently say See you next Tuesday or mentions Terms and Conditions in a meeting, I do have a bit of a smirk.
fluffysox - Hope you are feeling better.
Freespirit - Still loving the challenges.
Caitlyn22 - Get up to Manchester, We can invade Nanamias house and eat cake and drink coffee. Babyboo is in our area too. I don't know anything about the adoption process, but it does upset and confuse me about how the whole thing can be so complicated when you see children who are in dire need of a supportive family life, and you see people who are desparate to provide it. I really wish you well with this and hope you get all the support and info you need.
Junior J - How you get painfree and sorted soon. You are always so positive and cheery and a real inspiration. Re the referral, did you have anyone with you. When you are in pain and in a bad way, it can be hard to convey how you feel sometimes, but having someone with you to fight your corner (gobby forthright friend or relative) can get you further. As others on here have mentioned, you have the right to get a second opinion.
mrs-moneypenny - OMG me too!!! The house (or at least the lounge and kitchen can be (very briefly) immaculate and showhome standard and no one comes (or they say they are coming and then cancel). but..... as soon as I get the ironing board up and ironing out on the sofa, or start decorating or some sort of messy project, somebody ALWAYS comes.
BloomingTasty - Hope you feel better soon.
On me being a Mr Bean/clumsy ar*e note - There are no current accidents to report.

BBTHREE Divide by 10 then times by 3.
Full price £12 = £1.20 x 3 = £3.60 sale price.0 -
OOPs good morning, just. JJ you poor thing, hope you are able to access a second opinion, and that the referral goes ahead. Tidy people, yes I know what you mean about visitors only coming when you are busy doing untidy things. OMO your quotes make me smile and chortle keep them coming. Also think your DS is amazing.
Hismissus, and Blue-eyed-girl, thinking of you, and wishing you comfort.
BB3 I can't do sums at all, they call it dyscalculia, my family just roll their eyes and say 'calculator'.
The assessor came yesterday, and after a lot of questions, a tour of the house, (every room!) -tidy people, feel my pain!- and measuring the outside of the house, looked at the conservatory roof and said ''its wear and tear, not storm damage, so is not covered!'' However the greenhouse is covered so some small comfort there, at least.
I am going into the town to pick up a B**ts order, from the 70% sale, 4 part presents sorted out. I tried to avoid ordering any toiletries, but perhaps a few snuck in when I wasn't looking. Also picking up a pack of duvet covers for DGS bedroom from Arg*s clearance sale. Then no more, the credit card is in a food container full of water in the freezer to try and stop me using it. xx0 -

Speaking as the wife of a man who is Nottingham born and bred, I think it's often seen as an East Midlands thing. It always seems to me that DH and his parents go 'up' everywhere! Except when they say it, it sounds more like 'oop'. It's always 'just going oop road for some milk', or 'I'm going oop Derby this morning', even though Derby is directly West, and not 'up' at all! The only time I think it's 'down' is if they're going 'dahn tahn', but I've no idea why.
We actually made a little 'how to speak like a local' sheet for our wedding guests, full of Nottingham/East Midlands-isms and Welsh words and phrases, it was hilarious hearing people saying 'they don't really say that, do they??'mrsinvisible wrote: »the credit card is in a food container full of water in the freezer to try and stop me using it. xx
I love this idea! Does it actually work? My problem would be trying to get it into my freezer in the first place, it's like playing tetris with all the weird and wonderful bags of randomness in there :rotfl:0 -

This is hilarious, I'm definitely going to remember it for future use! I have a similar sense of humour, at my choir the other day we started learning 'Ho hey' by the Lumineers, and at one point the lyrics go
'I belong with you, you belong with me, you're my sweetheart
I belong with you, you belong with me, you're my sweet'
and then the blokes doing the backing come in immediately singing 'Ho! Hey!'. The two lines joined together had us all in fits of giggles every single time we tried it :rotfl:
What are we like, eh?0
