hello
I will stay in London (Greater) for few months and I will have limited ability to cook and prepare meals.
So, I will only be able to eat out, or get take food home from outside, or prepare meals with minimum kitchen facilities.
What I would like to know is if there is anywhere in London a place to have nice hot meals (even take-away) with a reasonable variety (I cannot eat the same each day).
There are some super-markets that have cookers inside and prepare meals that you can take home, but I am not sure if there are and where they are in London.
Also, any restaurant that offers a great variety of hot meals to eat there or take home, with reasonable prices would be very interesting.
Last, I am not sure if you can suggest me other solutions, like preparing meals at home (I know there are frozen meals at super markets but most aren't quite edible).
Any relevant info, highly appreciated!
Thanks
Why dont you hop on ebay and buy a few cases of American MREs. They are hot, filling, require almost no preparation, come in a dizzying variety and are cheaper than eating out. Job done.
Before anyone says "you cant do that, or you cant live on those", yes you can, I did it for 3 months. I couldnt see what the Yanks were all complaining about in the movies, they were perfectly edible, even tasty. Dont eat the squeezy cheese though...yeck.
P.S, I was 'babysitting' a house with no power or appliances...hence, the need for a hot filling meal without having to work at it.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it

Buy a student cookbook. Loads available on amazon. They will teach you the basics of cooking step-by-step, and are designed for people who are total novices with no time( less inclination!) and no money. Probably the best £5 you will spend.0

You still can't beat a wether spoons pub for a cheap and cheerful hot meal. Great breakfasts too and the places are everywhere. To cook a 'fry up' you can do bacon, sausage (thin ones), potato waffles and mushrooms/fresh tomatoes in the oven in about 15 mins. Stick them all on one tray. Then microwave scrambled eggs/beans/tinned toms. Easy peasy, I do this all the time. Things like savoury rice can be microwaved and served with salad. Some ready meals are better than others. It's trial and error. Lots od the curry ones are good. Some can be quite calorific though but mix and match.'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain'0

You can do a lot with a microwave - heat ready meals bought at the end of the day from supermarkets, cook pasta (not ideal but put it in water and stir every now and then), cheese on bread, you could probably cook rice too and so on.
I always do my pasta in the microwave. I put it in a bowl, boil the kettle and cover it with boiling water. Then cook it for 10 minutes. I find this better than using the hob because I have a tendency to wander off and let things boil dry!0 -
as eating is my major concern, I will basically find a place to live near where I will find a solution for eating!
I don't have a budget for food, but I would like to keep it as low as possible, but without eating the same food each day (I need variety) and it must be hot normal full meals (not cold sandwiches, etc)
limitations in cooking is that I will have an oven, an microwave oven and minimum cooking utilities
I love this....!!....lol.
Moving to where you want to eat, now that is a Real foodie.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
If you haven't found anywhere to live yet how do you know what your cooking facilities will be?
I'm not sure this is the right board for what you need since you can't/won't cook. This board can give you loads of advice of cooking with minimal facilities but i dont think thats what you are after. Maybe the travel board ask about london.0 -
I guess the ideal would be to find a flat above the eaterie of choice? If no cooking is to be done.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0

I can reheat! lol! also, I think I know how to roast and fry
but I have to also admit I am lazy
and have limited time to cook
I would like just to go buy a packet of hot food and salad and eat it home
OK we have established then you can cook if you want to, you don't, fair enough then you have to do a lot of legwork, choose the area that you like and can afford and find somewhere to eat. I really wouldn't want find somewhere to eat and then find out I had nowhere to live.Slimming World at target0 -

Fair do's
So tell us the post code ( ie sw??) and we can point you in the right direction on where to buy good cheap food
Btw it's been my experience to either eat my main meal in work if there's been a canteen or to hit a " greasy jo cafe". Caf!s who cater for the building trade usually do great lunch food for around a fiver0
