Fence down.........

These terrible gales have brought our fence down - about 90 feet in all - but insurance company says fences are not covered against storm damage:(
Don't any insurers cover for this?
It is going to be so expensive to replace.

Zurich cover fences not sure if anyone else doesThe mind is like a parachute. It doesn’t work unless it’s open.:o

Next time you have a possible claim, make sure you are covered (read up your policy), and that a claim will be cost effective before contacting your insurer.
Your rejected claim will now be on your record, and must be disclosed to any future insurer you ask for a quote from for the next 3/5 years depending on how long a history is required.0 -

I didn't make a claim, it was just a general enquiry asking if fences were actually covered. I was pretty sure they wouldn't cover it, but just thought it worth asking the question.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -

It doesnt matter because just asking the question is classed as a claim. If they had covered your fence then you would have been paid out. So yes this will be on your claims record. xRIP TJ. Shouldn't make any difference though when I come to change insurer because we will have paid to replace the fence by then.
I still don't see why it should count as a claim, that is totally ridiculous when it was just a general enquiry. I think I shall phone them and ask - never heard of anything so stupid.:(Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
I thought this too when ours came down but unless its literally completely smashed, they are much easier to fix than you'd think. Why not go over to the DIY section and get some pointers?0

Have just spoken to my insurance company and they assured me that is not the case at all. The only thing classed as a claim is where an excess has been paid and they have actually paid money out.
An enquiry is NOT a claim.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
