basic rooms in better hotels are absolutely great in my humble opinion.
Agree re Trop and Venetian. Also Mirage and Signature. However doesn't necessarily hold true at older hotels/non refurbished rooms/towers e.g. Caesars.

So... Is it better to have a better room in a good hotel, or a basic room in a better hotel. Decisions decisions.

I do think it depends on the hotels and budget will be a big factor, obviously.

I would rather have a standard Paris room than a Luv Tub room at IP, for example (probably the latter would be cheaper anyway so maybe not a reasonable comparison)...and as Froggitt said, I'd never book the 'standard' rooms at Caesars no matter how nice the property might be.

I also think that some suites in the mid-range hotels would be nicer than a standard room in some of the top-end hotels...I'm thinking of the one night we stayed at Bellagio...and it was a nice one-off experience but for the money we could have gotten a REALLY nice room somewhere else.

I think length of stay comes into it too...for 2-3 nights we're happy to splash out a bit...for a longer stay it's all a bit lost on us so we normally book 5 nights somewhere like Bally's then move to Cosmo or wherever for the last 3.

but it's all personal preference and depends on what someone is used to as well.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

  • Hello all,

Know this is the thread for people travelling in 2014 so hope no one minds me asking this question

My wifes 30th birthday is in November 2015 and she has always wanted to go to Vegas so thinking of booking it, she wants to stay at the Mandarin Oriental which I have not been to before but have read very good reviews for

I have been to Vegas before in March 2011 and loved it but have a few questions for November?

    - What is the weather like for November?
    - Does it tend to be busy in November or relatively quiet?

We are thinking of going from November 2nd- Friday 6th 2015
July 2015 Wins- Shaun The Sheep Goody Bag, 4x Books

    Year to date: £786

    Total to date ( Since 2008 ) = £37,345

I once went end November and it was T-Shirt weather.

No more or less busy really than other times of the year.
The MO apparently is a very nice hotel......not sure many on this board have stayed there as its relatively new.

November can be hit or miss weather wise. This last November was nice to begin with, but we had rain, wind and windy rain. Nothing like we are having at home now, but not good.

Can't help personally with MO, but a friend of mine always stays there when he visits with his mother. They have jazz in the bar area on Sundays and Tuesdays.

Last time we went in November we actually bought fleeces while there.
But as said,it can be very up and down.i think it was thanksgiving,so it was late November.
I would try and stay in Vegas a little longer if at all possible than 4 days.
Our first trip was for a week, and had to go back later that year,as we felt it wasn't long enough ( though it probably is,to see what needs to be seen )
Never had a trip shorter than about 10 nights since.

Be interested to know what Pebblesmax shortest visit has been.....
Probably at least a month I would imaging.:rotfl:
