the alternative to putting a note between your ID and credit card is to just have a $20 casually tucked into your hand where they can see it (or not), smile and ask nicely...if they upgrade you, ask if you can offer them a tip and hand it over. That's what I do.

I don't like the 'sandwich'...I always feel ridiculous and get really nervous. :) It probably has to do with one of the first times I tried it that way and the note fell onto the keyboard and she just stared at it and then looked at me and said 'what's that?' and then I sputtered all over the place.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

I wasn't nervous. I figured, what's the worst that can happen? I didn't even consider your scenario ;)

First time I have ever heard Cheesecake Factory being better than MAG :rotfl:
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Hi Eva, when was your original dates ? Have you tried BA.Com for flights then adding accomodation. There are good deals to be had from Glasgow in November.

We ended up going through BA holidays online and got a great deal on a package with better flights. We are going to be staying at the Cromwell, although the reviews say it can be noisy with the nightclub up on the roof, but we will see.

I love staying there the night before a flight and the exec room upgrade is (to us) worth it...nibbles and a drink the night before...relaxed light breakfast before the flight...using Virgin Twilight check-in so getting that done the night before...such a nice start to the trip. Have a great flight!

It was better twice, I tell you - two different nights, taking first place and second place on the food league ;)
  • In 5 trips to Vegas I've never done the Cheesecake Factory, really need to get it done on the next trip!

Also I tried the $20 with a $50 at Monte Carlo this Summer, didn't get me an upgrade but he put us on the 31st floor which is the second highest floor I think...amazing views. And he also returned out $50 to us.

Trip to downtown. I'd thought about staying here for the first few days of our holiday and I'm so glad I didn't. The Fremont Street Experience was great though, although my husband had thought all day that I was saying 'the free Monsters inc experience' so he was highly disappointed.

We had a bad meal at MAG last trip and have had mediocre meals on previous trips. I am beginning to wonder if it is trading on it's prior reputation.

The meals we have had at the Cheesecake Factory were definitely better than the last one at MAG.
