totallybored - great trip report...between your review of the Caesars buffet and other comments here I am slowly chipping away at my hubby's resolve against, it...I think. So many restaurants I have never tried that sound interesting...there is just never enough time and we have too many favourites.

On the Octavius Tower - was there anything in particular that made you prefer the pool view? We're looking forward to staying there and would be interested in opinions...we have had fountain view rooms a few times so I kind of wonder if a pool view might be a nice change.

Also did you use the Augustus/Octavius valet and did you have any trouble with it? In April we found it really frustrating...we would pull in only to be told it was full and go to the main valet, and we would go to the main valet and be told off by the main valet for not using the Augustus/Octavius valet instead...it annoyed me by the end...we normally prefer self-park but just too much of a faff when in those towers.

Stoneman's - it was the Caesar salad we had. It was the biggest salad I've ever seen! Will try the M resort buffet next time.

Ferf - def try the Caesars buffet and Estiatorio Milos as for $22 it's amazing value for three course. Re the Octavius view, I'm not that bothered about strip views and I think pools look pretty at night when they're lit up. I'm also not too bothered about high rooms as I like to be surrounded by lights (which is why I loved the city view room at Aria.) I only used the Octavius valet when we arrived as I didn't need to use the car on the Friday and Saturday as I had pool and drinks days. It did say full and diamond members only when I arrived but I just stopped in the middle of the space and we all got out! As my car was full of luggage I had no intention of self parking at Caesars! If you want an easy valet the north valet at Aria is fab as it's so close to the lifts and not as busy as the main valet. There is no bell desk though if you have luggage.

Can I just mention the 99c only store again too. It's excellent!! There is a grotty one opposite Target if you want one in Vegas. I found coppertone spray sun cream there after paying $15 for 2 in Walgreens!

I can't wait to hear what you think - I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

I am not good with change but I am going to check out Alamo Brits now...first time ages we're picking up from the airport and while I'm Express and it's normally fine I like the sound of your experience...did you get to choose your car from the lot or was one assigned to you? And how far before you were due to pick up could you check in online?

I checked in online as soon as I booked but that was only about a week before we left.
Walked straight on to the lot with my voucher, guy checked it and said pick from that line over there, there were maybe 20 cars to choose from, although only about 4 different models

I couldn't believe how easy it was and the lines for dollar express were long

  • I just purchased some Las Vegas show tickets for million dollar quartet onGroupon. The fine print on the voucher states that you have to show a valid IDmatching the name on the Groupon, but when I print the voucher there is noname. This is the first time that I have used Groupon in the USA have I donesomething wrong.

I just checked the two I have for our October trip and my name does not appear on either of them, though both are for restaurants...whether the box office has a way to check who bought the Groupon I'm not sure. If you bought it and you will redeem it I don't think there is anything to worry about.

I am so torn. We have a reservation at CH3000 (Dollar)...it is £8 more than Alamo Brits so no real reason to change as no significant savings...but I am really intrigued by photome's experience. Usually Dollar Express is fine though occasionally we have had a bit of a wait as only one person manning the booth then one person herding people to cars...we're arriving at midday on a Tuesday so I cannot see it being really busy...I am tempted to swap just to try it but I am a creature of habit and I know exactly where to go and what to do with Dollar at LAS picking up and dropping off.

Even if you don't do the pre check in, they have self service kiosks that speed the transaction up enormously. We got two separate brand new cars off them last trip, one had 8 miles on the clock, the other had 1. The one we had the accident in had 425 when we picked it up. All their vehicles seem newer than the ones we have had from Dollar recently.

Twice when picking up from TI we had issues with the cleanliness of the car we were allocated. Tony thinks that the creepy man (he really is, he used to work at Excalibur before all the changes.) had it in for us.
