running/jogging in Vegas... yeah i know!

i'd like to do the odd early morning run, only 2-3 miles... staying at Vdara I was thinking of doing a simple square:
east along E Harmon (past Signature @ MGM)
south down Koval Lane (round back of Signature/MGM)
west along E Tropicana (past MGM/Hooters)
    north back up the Strip

is Koval Lane safe to travel along? am a bit wary of walking along off-Strip places... (maybe wrongly!)

It's been a few years since I was last there but unless it's gone downhill drastically then it should be fine during the day. There's a big Motel 6 at the intersection of Tropicana and Koval Lane, and a Super 8 on Koval Lane round the back of Bally's/Paris. I've stayed in both and walked around during the early evening with no problems.

Have you had a look on StreetView?

Sorry, Google Maps decided to play up and the route got into a bit of a mess but you can still see it ok.

UPDATE: If you've got a car, it might be worth seeing if the University (UNLV) has any suitable facilities open to the public.

Stoneman will be along soon, I think he runs most mornings in Vegas so he should be able to help

But yes I do think you shouldnt be worried about walking/running off strip, of course there are exceptions but I dont think Koval is one of them

Koval Lane is fine. We walk along it regularly, although usually north from Harmon to Ellis Island if we are staying at P Ho.

A friend and I went to Atomic Liquors for drinks on Friday. Interesting place that's been there since 1952. Worth a visit if you're down Fremont East to visit the Container Park or some of the other bars.

It's opposite the aveda shop which should be on the map. Have a look on the website before you go as there was no list of options. Think they are still getting set up. Also when we went the doughnuts didn't arrive till after 11am so don't go too early.

thank you - found Aveda by scrolling around the map...so looks like north or west garage will be closest. Thanks! The only time we have been was by bus to make a quick stop at Origins so I am completely unfamiliar with the layout.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

alictait - do you remember about where they are located at Town Square? I can't find them on the map and just trying to plan our visit..we probably won't do much other shopping so going for an easy-in/easy-out option if available.

Just behind Tommy Bahama at the east road in, so jealous! I can taste them now...had to go through to Edinburgh recently just for Kirspy Kreme as I needed decent doughnuts so bad!

  • Flight question for you all, if you wouldn't mind helping me.

We have a short connection in Seattle on the way to Las Vegas, it's only 1 hour 10 minutes. Could anyone who has had a connecting flight on the way to Vegas let me know what security/immigration requirements there are for connecting flights?

    Thanks

Not really sure I understand the question? The requirements are the same as any entry point in the US. You'll need a valid ESTA and will need to clear immigration in Seattle after collecting your bags. Length of queue will depend on where you are seated on the flight and how many international flights arrive at the same sort of time.

In LA we were issued a short connection voucher to jump the immigration queue, pretty sure you'll get the same treatment with that connection.
