Orange say the bundles DO NOT include the following: modem access for computers, internet based streaming services, voice or video over the internet, Instant Messaging, peer to peer file sharing and non Orange internet based video
Nothing there about non-Orange WAP sites.
I have been told by approximately 4 call centre staff that it does not include non-Orange wap sites. I'm not sure what you are getting at?Our dream has come true...

espresso, I just find it hard to believe that one can have that T-mobile £1 per day capped offer on data on a pay as you go SIM with no minimum spend on voice calls. Does anyone have hands-on experience of just this set-up?0

Sorry for the delay, I have now unlocked an old Orange handset which has GPRS counters and used it with my T-mobile SIM on the Everyone tariff to check my e-mail. The data was charged at 0.73p per kb and this will be the case until 26 September, when they are 'simplifying' their charges and will then charge £1 per day. No need for any voice calls etc.
Current terms:Web'n'walk day pass
Compatible handset required. £1 maximum daily charge applies to U-Fix, Mates Rates, Everyone and Text Appeal customers. Roaming charges apply. Charges of 0.73p per KB apply until £1 per day (midnight to midnight) is spent. If you have already spent £1 and you browse for a continuous period from before midnight to after midnight, all of that period will be charged at the new day's rate of 0.73p per KB. Not applicable to connection via circuit switch data (CSD). Subject to coverage. * To ensure a high quality of service for all our customers a fair use policy of 40MB (of data both sent and received in the UK) per day applies. We monitor use on a monthly basis. If, in our reasonable opinion, you regularly exceed 40MB per day, we may tell you to reduce your future use. If you again regularly exceed 40 MB per day, we may tell you that we are going to apply network protection controls, resulting in a reduced network speed for 14 days. If you exceed 40 MB per day for a third time, we may tell you that we are going to apply further network protection controls, resulting in a permanently reduced network speed. We do not permit use of this service to provide modem access for a computer or for peer to peer file sharing, internet phone calls or instant messaging. Roaming charges apply. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

I use this all the time, it does work on T-Mobile. You pay a fairly high rate of 0.73p per kb until you have spent £1 then the rest of the day is free. They are changing the service slightly soon where you will just pay £1 for a day pass. Haven't seen how this will work yet, do you have to buy the pass then connect or will it automatically charge you £1 the first time you connect?
Have also used GPRS on Virgin and Vodafone PAYG, but T-mobile is currently cheapest0 -

Thanx to the above replies and advice I got a nokia GPRS card (no 3G - too expensive a purchase for casual use!) and a t-mobile sim with some credit on it, all from Ebay. Put these together into the pcmcia slot on the lappy. Total outlay under £20. Can surf at quite a respectable speed, look ma no phone line or wifi in sight, very similar speed to a 56k landline modem, presumably for £1 per day.
Now looking into how to send regular pop3 email with this lot as I need an independent smtp server - better post in techie stuff!0 -

Hi p1an0player, I tried a Nokia D211 card with t-mobile sim on payg. It will not work after 1 page load that proves there is technical connectivity and when I inquired with t-mobile, they tell me I need to be on a contract to have the £1 per day max gprs deal working on a laptop.
So which system are you using?0
