  • It looks like the 'Buy 8 and Get 8 Free' is just for the Simply Great varieties.
One point to note, is that some of the cartons I got had a 'Money back if you're not satisfied' promo on them, which might be worth looking at ... may end up paying nothing at all (looks for 'fingers crossed' smiley:)).

Oooo interesting, have made a note in my lil pad, will check it out when I can hitch a lift to sada :rotfl:

I can't imagine the council taking this very seriously :D

I think I read somewhere once that hairspray (or was it furniture polish?) works on squeaky things. I might have imagined that so off to google.....:)

Tanku so much for the tips you lovely lot :T :A

bless i know how you feel my kids all want a dog and i would love one but oh is adament that we cannot as i am badly asthmatic and he reckons it would make me ill all the time so we have a ban on pets in the house:( i know its for my own good but i still think he is mean;)

I have very bad allergy asthma and I am on the maximum amount of medication you can take.

Including tablets a nebuliser and 3 inhalers. And I have a dog and it does not upset my asthma one bit

Cats can trigger an attack for me but I have to scrammed for the worst affects to take place.

it’s very easy to test if you will get a reaction so you will know for certain whether or not you will get a reaction to dogs or not

I could not be without my dog as a dog is a totally loyal companion and totally honest unlike humans
  • I haven't found out yet about the hairspray/polish thing, however, I have found this Handy Hints webpage which is quite interesting

    My favourites so far:

Outrun Crocodile/Alligator. Run in a zig-zag pattern, and not just in one straight direction. When making left or right turns, the crocodile/alligator has to come to a crawl to move in that direction because of its short legs.

Outrun Bear. Run downhill. Because of its 2 short front legs, a bear has to crawl down a hill. It can run up a hill, or up a tree, but when going down, its center of gravity forces it to go slower.

Gorilla Attack. If a Gorilla runs after you, do not run! Simply do not stare at his eyes, and look at the ground, and humble yourself towards it. He will walk away.

We'll have to rename you QIMildred :D

Not good news, OH WILL NOT LET me have a dog. :(:(:(

We still got him, here until Friday. I am enjoying it and so are the kids, but OH not happy bunny, not really spoken to me since we had him. We haven't left him in the house on his own, as he just barks and whines constantly, when on his own, he is still following me to the toilet!!!!

We went for a walk round the shops yesterday, and OH moaned because we both couldn't go in together, and if he held the dog, he just whined until I came out (the dog that is, and the OH moans a lot aswell).

OH is adamant we are never having a dog, so think this is it, was a 2 week trial, while friend abroad and at least I know he is not going to cave in. :(:(:(:(:(:(

Sadly sometimes you have to admit defeat and realise its not going to happen.

I am wondering though if there is a short term fostering scheme for rescue dogs - I seem to think there is one for cats, ones waiting to fond new homes but maybe dogs have ones run by dog shelters as well?

Or maybe if you do have a local dog shelter you could do a few hours there each week - not the same as having your own but at least its some dog company.

I also know there is a dog walking scheme - again, not the same as having one of your own bit at least you get a chance to go walking and you can pretend for an hour it shout own . .

We have only very thin walls and we can hear our neighbour sneeze loudly, play his music and shout at his yappy dog - Fortunately this is just downstairs and we don't share a wall upstairs - I just put the radio on if it gets annoying.

when our neighbour first moved in though he came round to complain about out kids making a noise as they ran up and down the stairs - not a lot you can do with 3 teenagers in the house plus their mates.

it made life very tense, lots of hissed 'Stop bouncing on the stairs Cedrick can hear you and will complain again' :rotfl:
