Try drinking a tonne of water, normally works for me!

Nope, I am a Type 2 so I think I was lucky to get one at all when I was diagnosed 3 years back, I reckon I only got one because I asked if I could self-test!

I don't agree that T2s shouldn't have them as you need to work out what foods do and don't spike your blood sugar, and it's different for everyone. I can eat lots of choc and my numbers stay normal but overload on carbs and they shoot up, I wouldn't know that without testing! Of course now I am trying to keep everything in moderation, but self-testing is a good way of keeping yourself in check, so I don't see why they reckon non-insulin dependents don't need them as they 'go by your hBa1c' (which takes the average level present in your blood in the last 3 months), but that seems nonsensical, surely keeping a personal eye on your sugars lowers your hBa1c?! It's certainly the case for me, I took some new tablets and my numbers shot up, it was another 2 months until my next test and by then it could have done me serious damage

Obviously I realise they're not life-and-death like they are for ones on insulin but still.....

Sorry for boring you all :D

Not boring at all. Luckily I do not have diabetes and I know little about it so you have helped to educate me, tanku :)

I really don't understand their reasoning. Surely anything that can help you stay healthy should be encouraged? And if that means more frequent self testing then so be it.

I've heard Harry shortened to Henry
    John is shortened to Jack.

In Scotland Hugh is shortened to Shug.

Charles is Chas in London but Chic in Scotland (and Chuck in the US)

Peggy was the name of NASA's most experienced astronaut (over a year in space and six space walks). A very 21st century space travel name!

I thought it was the other way around; Prince Harry is actually called Henry!

My cousin dated a Shug; nasty !!!!er though

Also Charlie in London and I have an auntie Peggy (Margaret) and an auntie Moira (Mary). Really don't know how you get Moira from Mary?

    Afternoon folks :)

I've been out for training run number two this morning. Found it a lot harder than Thursday but it goes like that apparently.................

yes it does but once you break through the 'wall' you'll find you can run much further without the earlier difficulty. when i started jogging i began to wonder how on earth people kept on going but after the first month of daily running i found i was going 18 miles without stopping and could keep keep going still. the main thing i found was you need to listen to your body - if you feel enough is enough then stop. if you need a few days off then take it. but i have always pushed myself and dont like giving up. just persevere through the first month but dont overdo it or you will lose the sense of fun and enjoyment of it :)

    Morning everyone

I haven't been around for a long time but going to see if I can find the gammon which is scanning for £2/£5. Could someone tell me if the hanscanners will show the 'lower' price? I can check as I go along then, and maybe check some other bits while I'm at it.

    Thanks in advance!

    Xmas Saver!
    Afternoon all

So how long do we think it would take to run out a Bic biro from new?

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4855240

All the flipping pens in this house and not one of them is a Bic Cristal

I think I might need to invent some sort of contraption to attach the pen/paper to the exercise bike, wonder if my mum has still got my old spirograph in her attic :rotfl:

This might be a good one for teachers - FloFlo - if they've got lots of marking to do :)

Calling all runners! When you say 'training run number 2', are you following a particular programme? I am going to start running again tomorrow and am looking for inspiration. Did a half marathon last year (actually wasn't last year any more, Oct 2012) but have only been running once or twice since, so am basically starting from scratch.

First bake of the day (sugar free lemon and almond drizzle cake), better go and deliver it now. Can't be arsed to drive to the Strand and back! Will bore you later with more bakes :D Hope you have lovely Sundays!
