I'm doing okay worked A LOT over christmas (including boxing day), so only now am I getting to put my life back in order. Will make everything easier when he moves all his things out, and I can have his wardrobe space for the christmas tree, wrapping paper, extra bedding etc, then i can really tidy and move on. Still sucks, family and friends have been super supportive though, bless their souls.

Thats good you have support, but dont ever feel you have no one to talk to people here on this tread are fantastic and give lots of help and support, there the best:T:T:T:T

My last shift was in May 2012  I finished then for my maternity leave.
I'm not going straight back into clinical work. I have a lot to update myself on so have a study week covering changes to policies, H&S, moving and handling, infection control, emergency drills etc. Then I have a supernumery phased return for 3 months where I'll be shadowing my colleagues and getting back up to speed and used to shift work again.

Maybe your boss was thinking she was supporting you by easing you back in gently rather than suggesting you weren't capable of returning straight to your post. Is it just going to be a temporary arrangement? I know i'd be bricking in if I was thrown straight back into where I left off. Best of luck with your meeting :)

Im sure it would only be temporary, but its more that there is a vacancy that needs filling so she wants me to plug the gap.

A friend of mine went through similar to you, discovered breast cancer just before maternity leave was about to end, so she had about 2 years off altogether. It must have been so horrendous, like for you. She's doing well now, been back at work full time for a couple of years, and her lil un, who was also born 3 mths prem (not connected to the cancer), is started at pre school now and has been signed off by everyone as they think he has caught up.

Thats an awful lot of time they are giving you! But given your in such a role of responsibility, Im glad!
:hello: The grass is not greener, it just looks that way from a distance :hello:

I think it is so supportive that they have given you a gradual return to work. Hope it works out that way, I know midwives can be rushed off their feet at times.

Congratulations to tinyshoes - very apt name for the patter of little feet.

I just did a "stocktake" of my freezers

I don't think I need to buy anything other than fresh veg, fruit, milk and bread for about a month :o

Have you seen the toiletries thread 'No buying more toiletries unless essential' that I think Kadison posted a link to a day or so ago - they have inventoried all their h&b stuff but they are amateurs compared to some of us :o:o

It is so good to see that this thread has returned to a calm friendly place - I hope that it continues this year without anyone (new or existing members) winding each other up ...

Keep calm, carry on contributing and ignore any daft comments where required :). Life is too short.
