I know that mail gets delayed/takes longer this time of year but .......
I was waiting on a couple of cheques in payment for work carried out,
One was posted 1st class (postmarked 11th December) arrived 18th
Another cheque was posted 17th 1st class has still not arrived but my credit card statement which was posted 19th December arrives this morning - it's just not fair!
I understood that 18th was last day for posting 2nd class requiring delivery before Christmas so why the delay with 1st class post?
Grrrrr

I suppose that the one I have not yet received could be stringing me along but I don't think so.
The other letter was postmarked 11th December and arrived on 18th (I checked and it was sent by first class mail).
I thought that the amount of Christmas mail had reduced in recent years (but I suppose the extra staff taken on has also reduced in line with the lower demand)0 -

Speaking as a postie I wish that were true. The hierarchy keep saying that mail is down, but fail to mention the massive increase in parcel/packets. Two weeks back I had an average load for the Tuesday, followed by at least four times that amount on the Wednesday.
As for extra staff being taken on, certainly not in my delivery office.0 -

How many Xmas pressures have you done?
Not many if you cant see letters are down.
If you have an 'average' load on a Tuesday, why are you surprised at the increase on the Wednesday?
people dont stop posting stuff on a Monday, the lull in Tuesdays feeds are down to the way the network is set up.
Its Xmas,of course you will see massive volumes. Duties are designed around a model week workload, not xmas workloads0 -

Blimey I wonder why I bothered, rather than post my career history I thought I'd keep things short and to the point. I didn't say that I was surprised by the increase from Tuesday to Wednesday but obviously you chose to read it that way.
Thank you ThumbRemote for reading what I had posted0 -

Its all part of the workload. Im always amazed at posties who go on about being busy at xmas.
Its part of the job
either work over and complete,or work to your time and another docket monkey will do it
packet growth is a part of the job.
Every forecast you read will show a year on year packet growth. So im not sure where the " fail to mention the massive increase in parcel/packets" comes in.0 -
Are you reading what I post?
I haven't stated any opinion about the workload but you seem to be having a dig at me about saying it is heavy at Christmas. The OP is does not work for RM so my comment about the hierarchy was referring to the publically released statements and not forecasts.
I wonder what non-existant content you will discover this time.0 -

publicly released?
You mean the statements that constantly refer to parcels being a growth market?0
