We went to an adult only hotel in Paphos, Cyprus earlier in the year & it was fab. No screaming kids by the pool, really relaxing! The bus service into town & main bus depot was fab and v cheapFirst baby due 3/3/14 - Team Yellow! Our little girl born 25/2/140

San Francisco might be a good bet, and you can travel round on the trams. Definitely recommend getting the boat over to Alcatraz.0

How about Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand?
It's not a beach resort but plenty of hotels to suit all budgets, super cheap food and transport and loads to do from chilled out sight-seeing to zip-lining through the jungle or spending a day with elephants.
We recently went and it was by far the best holiday we've had, I'd thoroughly recommend it0 -

Cruising has never been cheaper. Take a look at the P&O deals and you will see that some are for as little as £50 per person per night, which includes travel, accommodation, entertainment and as much food as you could ever wish for!
If you want to seen interesting places, a Baltic cruise is a good choice. You get to see the Scandinavian capitals, plus Tallinn, and the highlight which is St Petersburg.0 -
I also think cruising would suit you. Loads to do onboard or places just to chill if that is your thing. And, of course in ports so much to do or just stay onboard with the spa, pools etc.
Prices have never been cheaper. For younger couples, I would look at P&O, Celebrity or Royal Caribbean.0 -
Sorrento in Italy is good if you get a hotel with a pool. Lovely weather, good food, and a train ride to visit Pimpeii, Herculaneum or climb Mount Vesuvius. Or a ferry to the Island of Capri as well as just hanging out at the many restaurants in Sorrento.
My parents love Sorrento, they've been a few times, definitely worth a look. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -

Sorry I haven't replied to your suggestions in a while but I've been out for Christmas drinkies!
Re: the cruises, where would be the best sort of place to go on a semi-budget? Malta is top of the list atm, Sorrento is up there too. Saving Vegas but every suggestion has been great. Real food for thought!0 -
