Holiday compromise - lazy girlfriend and active boyfriend!

Good evening all.
Hoping from some advice from some well travelled members!
My boyfriend and I are contemplating going on an abroad holiday next year but we are having trouble coming to a compromise.
We both want to go to a country neither of us have been to before (which shouldn't be hard as we have both just been to the standard European holiday countries).
Here's the main sticking point though - I am more of a relax and read person and he'd like to do more stuff. Has anyone got any suggestions? Really somewhere with a good climate but also places that he can wander off to, preferably not a big city, and close as poss to an airport. Not many requirements then... :rotfl: it doesn't have to be beach, an area with pools is fine, more rural is fine too.
We are under 25 though so renting a car is expensive!
Thank you and merry Christmas one and all

Barcelona I'd say. It's not a big city (or at least the centre isn't) there are lots of easy flight options, the airport is only half an hour out of the city, and the beach is at the bottom of the main street. And there's loads of culture, architecture and shopping...0

Las Vegas! Pool time for you and exploration time for the boyfriend. Brilliant weather, plenty to do and see, day and night.
Very close to the airport and no need to rent a car.0 -
I never see the point of spending enormous amounts of money just to go and sit somewhere and read... you can do that in the UK.
How great will that holiday 'together' be when you're sitting reading and your BF is wandering around on his own seeing the sights?:hello:0 -

Las Vegas is the only place I want to definitely visit in the world (not for the casinos!) but saving that for when we can do it in style!!Tiddlywinks wrote: »I never see the point of spending enormous amounts of money just to go and sit somewhere and read... you can do that in the UK.

A holiday in the UK would be good but neither of us own a car so there's that barrier. Plus the UK is not particularly warm.
I don't mean all the time, but just the ability to do both.0 -
Turkey is lovely. I'd suggest Bodrum.0

Vegas is brilliant, we've been 5 times now, keep on getting drawn back! Good idea to save up and do it in style, there are so many awesome hotels.
What about Egypt? Personally I've never fancied it, but an ex colleague of mine went year after year and she loves sitting round the pool! But they also did camel rides and hot air balloon rides too.0 -
Sorrento in Italy is good if you get a hotel with a pool. Lovely weather, good food, and a train ride to visit Pimpeii, Herculaneum or climb Mount Vesuvius. Or a ferry to the Island of Capri as well as just hanging out at the many restaurants in Sorrento.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0
