70 gifts for Dad's 70th Birthday

Do they have to be serious gifts?
I have done this for several big birthdays and given the gifts all at once, each gift being wrapped separately which added to the fun and surprise.
Here are a few ideas; samples of aftershave, anti wrinkle cream, 70 1ps ( or 20ps) -try to get shinny new ones, wallet, silly socks, pair of magic gloves, packet of favourite biscuits/crisps, bottle of washing up liquid and rubber gloves, pen, samples of shampoo or mini bottles, different beers or mini wine bottles, packet of seeds, packet of jelly babies etc, a lottery scratchcard or ticket, the meaning of liff book
You could write a few silly cheques..... for a picnic in the park, a trip to the cinema, a day out to the races/coast/dales etc
Hope some of these are of help. And your dad has a wonderful birthday.
My dad would hate that - he hates tat and clutter, why not just get him a decent present on the day?0 -
Hi...
My Darling Dad is 72, and a friend bought him a book for his 70th Birthday, its called The Best Of Times - growing up in Britain in the 1950's by Alison Pressley
He loves it, He has some books about the war years, but he says this book is very good as he remembers so much of the things in it.

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO, What a Ride!"

How about a trip to Dundee - home of the Beano comic? http://thecrusoes.files.wordpress.com/2013/08/p8031408.jpg?w=300&h=224
(We visited Dundee when taking our son for Uni interviews - had a great weekend - also saw Scott of the Antarctic's ship Discovery http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RRS_Discovery and the Mills observatory http://www.leisureandculturedundee.com/mills )
or if he's interested in computers, a trip to Bletchley park? http://www.tnmoc.org/
