Hi all,
Just thought I'd like to offer a word of warning re. dubious tactics employed by Sky door-to-door salesman ive recently had displeasure of dealing with.
Im currently with virgin, and a sky agent caled at my house early this month promising to give me "everything that sky sell" for £75 a month on a 1-year deal.
Wont bore you with details, but package this guy offered really was the "full monty".
I duly placed order, only to check online later that evening & discover that it comprised basic tv/phone/internet deal plus sky sports package...i.e way way short of that which i was offered. Rang customer services, they agreed that i'd been mis-sold the deal. I cancelled order & raised a formal complaint, receiving profuse apologies from lady on phone but very little else.
Couple of weeks later, the salesman contacted me, saying it had all been a terrible mistake, blaming sky order processing people. Against my better judgement I gave the guy another chance. He came out to see me with a similar offer to the original one. After what i thought was meticulous checking of order details, and personal guarantees from salesman that ther would be no problem this time, i again placed an order.
Guess what...checked order online again and this time the BT & ESPN sports package was missing...despite the agent stating on more than one occasion this was definitely included!!!
Again i called customer services, received profuse apologies & agreement that i had been mis-sold a contract. After a token attempt to give me a comparable deal, they had to admit that it couldnt be done & cancelled my order..AGAIN!!!!
Im currently in process of making further complaints to Sky, and raising the issue with trading standards/consumer advice.
Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I would never agree to buy anything offered on my doorstep.0

So you were mis-sold by a scumbag salesman. Everything got cancelled. And then you let him back into your home and let him do it all again. And again you got it all cancelled.
You are blaming Sky for this. Do you not think that you yourself are a little bit responsible by letting him back for the second attempt?"There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
thanks for the support folks, as they say, hindsight is always 20/20 vision.
my point was that this guy was a sky employee, so notionally not some maverick double glazing/cavity wall insulation type doorstepper.
maybe i was mistaken to give him a second chance, but this doesnt distract from the fact that he, and therefore the company he represented, was obtaining orders by deceit.
anyway, lesson learned i guess.
My main reason for posting was that hopefully this may help others who, like me, may not be blessed with your profound wisdom.0 -

If you complain to Sky about not receiving BT Sport and ESPN then they will simply say you have to subscribe with BT.
As others have said, if you want Sky why didn't you contact Sky directly instead of trusting this cold caller not once, but twice. ?
Do remember that if a deal seems too good to be true, it generally isn't true!the_deal_hunter wrote: »my point was that this guy was a sky employee,0 -

by the way....before anyone else wastes their valuable time telling me how i was wrong, made mistakes etc etc....
I get all that now thanks.
To anyone who is considering buying sky from one of these doorstep salesmen.... please think very carefully & dont make the same mistakes i did.
My personal recommendation would be to contact sky directly, either online or by phone.0 -

Trading standards will only act if you can show concrete evidence of this "mis-selling". You have only your word against his.
I'd just stick with Virgin if I were you...0 -
perhaps i'll stick with not trying to post anything well meaning on this forum.
my smug-o-meter has now broken.0 -
