Hello teabody, just de-lurking to say that I started the 52 week challenge last August and am doing it backwards. In December I was still in the £40s and put £166 away. That's plenty extra to find in December! Doing the challenge forwards means £202 to find! So I would back your thought of going in reverse! You can change to that anytime - it's your money you're saving!

Yes i think you are right.....I might see how i go this month and reverse in Feb! Would make it easier near the end....not sure if I can manage £200 in one month though!

loving the idea of the 52 week challenge, off to see if it will fit in with my money plans....

good luck with overpaying your mortgage, iv got a loan to pay off before i look at the mortgage, i love reading diaries though, really keeps me focused!

If you google '52wk challenge' there is a sheet you can fill in as you go along or it may be on here somewhere...i imagine it will be!

I have realised that you can put away any amount off the challenge sheet randomly if you are marking the sheet therefore making it easier to save the same amount i.e

    wk1 £1
    wk52 £52
    wk 12 £12
    wk 2 £2

    Total: £67

This would make the entire task much easier for me as it means I will save larger and smaller amounts as I can afford it.....less monthly outlay but still achieving the same outcome......hopefully!!!

    NSD today!

    £1 transfer to £365 challenge.

Trying to keep to a £400 food budget for the month thanks to fellow MFW Ixia.
    So far : £56.18 spent

Planning on an overpayment very soon.....collecting my pennies together so hope to have one ready next week or week after!!!
I have been looking hard at how to get our LTV down ....we are fixed for 2 years now so would like to be 60% or lower by the end of this fixed term and get an even lower rate (fingers crossed) next time.

OMG! Massive step today....£500 overpayment made....accumulated money from different accounts and will have to fill the little savings hole I have left but feel that this will put me in a better position as I know leaving the cash in the account will mean spending it on other stuff!
Also paid £27 into my 52 wk challenge so I am ahead now meaning I can pay lower payments when I am a bit skint!

    £1 into the £365 challenge

GIL sent food today so no cooking tonight!:T

Also my mom has called to say she has cooked for us too so less cooking tomorrow! Pleased! Should keep this weeks food bill down too!!

Had to get petrol £15! but I remembered to gain points on my nectar card. This was my only spend today.

    £1 transferred to £365 challenge

Food tonight was a lovely lamb dinner that my mom sent for us! Yum!
No cooking = no fuel usage + no food usage = MS!

Submitted meter readings for electricity and gas. Using a lot!!! Will have to keep an eye on that! Mind you I did a switch and fix in Dec which has not yet completed so it SHOULD be better.

My house is still feeling the effects of xmas and feels a little cluttered so will have to start decluttering!!! Started to list items on ebay so will get myself motivated to continue.
