AA Breakdown Cover Complaint. Can Anyone Help?

Alright guys
I am wondering if anyone can help me here... I took out AA breakdown cover on Tuesday morning gone on the believe that they would be able to fix my car which broke down the night before. I paid for the whole year up front of £95 instead of the £9.99 per month option (because we thought it would be cheaper to do it that way and all the problems would be sorted) I didn't contact AA customer service until Thursday gone and said that the car broke down that very same morning..
That's not the issue at all. When the AA guy came out to fix my car they advise that it would need a new clutch and also the battery was faulty. There was no point in fixing the battery until the clutch was fixed. The AA guys say he could take the car home or to a garage but only to one
I called my local garage and they quoted me £256 for a new clutch which was a bit steep. So I told the AA guy to take it home because I thought I was going to scrap it. Could of hours latter after ringing around a lot of garages I found somewhere that could do the whole lot including battery and recovery cost for £247..
So now I am out of pocket big time. AA could not fixed my car at all. So I have wasted £95 pounds on a service that I don't need.
Is there anyway that I can get the money back?

A new clutch is a major job on most cars, it is not something the AA will repair. The AA only do minor roadside repairs, they offered to take your car to a garage so you could have the work done.
If you had not joined the AA you would have had to pay a fee to a garage to tow you.
Why do you think you should get your money back? You got the AA service that you paid for.0 -

I have had to pay a garage to pay to recovery it from outside of my house to them £35 as well. So like I said AA has done nothing at all. And I doubt I even need their service for the remaining * months of this car.. Then we are thinking of getting a brand new car...
So I NEED to know if I can cancel the breakdown cover because I am still within the cooling of period.. But how much of the £95 will I get back if any??0 -

lol,classic
They came out an diagnosed the fault
recovered you to the destination of your choice
Ask your guy doing the recovery if he can do the clutch at the roadside in under an hour. Then its comparable
You are safe in the knowledge, once fixed you will have the safety net of breakdown coverbyronwells wrote: »I have had to pay a garage to pay to recovery it from outside of my house to them £35 as well. Unlikely, because you used the service before the end of the cooling off period.

So you bought AA cover after the car had broken down and then lied about when it had broken down?
The AA came and gave you the service you bought - roadside repair if possible, a tow to a place of your choice if not.
Just why do you think you should get your money back?0 -

The point of using a breakdown service is for them to fixed the car which they did not at all. All they did was say what they problem is and towed back that's it. Not worth the £95 pounds at all. They never even repair the battery which they are suppose to. So I had to fork out and get battery as well as the clutch...0 -
The point of a breakdown service is to try to diagnose and fix a problem at roadside - simple things like run out of fuel, punctures, small repairs. bodges to get you going temporarily...anything major and you get relayed to home/garage.
You really don't seem to understand that they can't do major repairs at the roadside as they don't have the parts, tools, and also it's not safe enough for them0 -

They would not have to quote you "repair" the battery, they would have replaced it and charged you for it, and it would have probably cost more than you paid for the replacement battery elsewhere as they would have put on a profit margin to cover supply and fitting. The £95 would not have covered the cost of a new battery, it covered the service you used and you falsified the information given to them about the actual breakdown. Read the T&C's next time before you buy any service.0 -
