Aw DDFW, I'm so sorry you're feeling glum. I can really sympathise - I'm only just coming out of a period of intense gloominess myself (for different reasons). Don't be hard on yourself - and don't underestimate the stress of surviving on too little money, with no spare dosh for treats and having to fret about every little purchase like a second hand dress from a car boot sale. Life is tough, so don't beat yourself up too xx
It sounds like you have a lengthy commute too, and that can take it out of you, especially if it's every single day.
I have no idea what type of work you do, but have you tried having a poke around the internet? Not for specific jobs, but to see whether anyone's blogged or written about moving from your area into something else? Might spark off a few thoughts about avenues you haven't thought of? Or looking at LinkedIn for people doing a similar job and seeing what else they've done in the past that you might be able to do?
Lately I've been reading the Free Range Human blog, it's quite inspiring and really makes you think about the kinds of things you could potentially do if you go part time. I've just finished the book but sadly I can't send it to you as it's not mine
There's plenty of free bits and pieces on the website though. Not really a practical suggestion, but it might help you think about potential different options?
Anyway, feel free to ignore me, tis just hard to see someone cheery stuck in a fug. Keep talking as much as you like lass if it helps, we're here to listen xx0 -
Hi all
its not been a great day
looked at hundreds of jobs - every one i selected for more information specified either a qualification or experience which i don't have. Have considered applying for a job which is pay cut of either 30% or 50% of my current income  i figure this would give me the training / experience / qualifications i need but of course this wouldn't be a wage i could realistically afford to live on. feeling very down about the whole thing
My expenses are cut back as far as they will go anyway. I pay for the running of my car which i barely run - i walk to the station to save money, i walk over 3 miles round trip to the post office to post parcels, i walk 4 miles round trip to the docs etc. But i don't want to give up my car as i am looking for a new job nearer to home which may necessitate using my car to get to it - you might think i could walk there with all this walking :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: the thing is the area i'm looking at for work is ideally here or a different area to where i work now & it would be dearer to use public transport to get there and a tad too far to walk to.

Vibes winging through the airwaves as we speak ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
:j :j
Good on you for being proactive
Fingers crossed you get on the course, and that it's not too exhausting for you.
I'm just applying for a new job myself and remembering that for my current job, there was one thing on the list of requirements that was essential that I hadn't done - I just didn't mention it at all on my form...
They asked in the interview, I said I hadn't done it but had looked it up and knew what it was, and was willing to learn - and they gave me the job anyway
Pays to be cheeky sometimes
(I'd probably only do that with a relatively small thing mind you)
Anyway, waffling on, fingers crossed for you, hope this really helps xx0 -
What sort of job are you looking for? Someone on here might be able to give some helpful advice on how to get in and how things might progress in terms of opportunities and salaries in the medium term.
I suspect you aren't looking for my job (I work for big four firm)....Mortgage, draw down Sept 2014: £222,000

Good vibes for the course

I wouldn't rule out applying for a job just because you don't have all the experience or qualifications, just see if you get to interview and then show keen to learn.
Hope you feel a bit more positive soon xx"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
good vibes being sent.
I've had job offers before from jobs that I wasn't qualified for just because I was the 'best' of the bunch. Not sure that says much but hey - I got the job
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -

Hi all
Cheery - thank you for those suggestions - i still need to look for a new job so there are some things to consider there. The main thing i am aware of is my transferable skills but the potential employers aren't picking up on that
good luck with your application
inod thank you - i just decided i had to do something so that change will happen
jwil thank you i agree and i do apply for jobs where those just a wee bit of the essentials that i don't have but when i have to look up the acronyms to know what they're referring to then i know its a stretch too far :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
watty thank you its good to know there is a chance where there may not seem to be one :TCC1:T £[STRIKE]2531[/STRIKE] £1460MORTGAGE OVERPAYMENTS: £10575.20 Target £12,100MF Date: [STRIKE]August 2042[/STRIKE] May 2035Declutter 1000 things by Xmas 2015! 53/10000
