Good luck with the wardrobe sort. I had a go at mine earlier this year and got a friend to help. He was brilliant, saw lots of outfits that were great that I would never have seen, persuaded me to shorten a dress (well take to a tailor) and encouraged me to throw some stuff away. Was really positive experience and left me with so much to wear that I don't want to shop at all, which is a positive as I'm on a 'no clothes to be bought till mortgage free' unless there is dire need!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -
Hey lovely, sorry I haven't been around.
You are doing really well.
Hope the clothes sort out went well.
I meant to say to you - if there are any books you are looking for for your course and you aren't bothered about edition/condition, let me know and I can see if I have any in my many piles of books"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Hi inod - i think the main problem was that she explained AFTER cutting my hair that my hair would not be like the picture I had taken in because my hair was different to the persons in the picture. I had thought my hair was quite similar to the persons in the pic which was part of the reason for choosing the cut :undecided
Part of the reason i chose the cut was that it would fall into place easily - unfortunately as my hair is different it doesn't so does need styling each day *sigh*
The good thing is that my hair was looking greasybut it was the product used - its been fine since i've done it myself
So i will at least save money by never buying products from there :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Hi Watty - i remember reading about that nowI wasn't sure about posting about it as in a way it seemed a 'silly' thing to do
so I am glad you understand
Hopefully it will result in an easier wardrobe in that i will know what works with what and hopefully a good clear out too
I've not done it yet due to lack of time and being ill so i've more or less just been going to bed after work

Hello all
I am not feeling too cheery today- having been under the weather all week yet plodding on I've woken up today feeling completely achey, full of a cold and all that entails - headache, earache etc. So instead of being able to make a big energetic start catching up on all i've not done i am instead settled on the sofa with plans of not venturing far.
I have made a big pan of chilli ready to portion up
I got on top of all the washing etc. yesterday so don't need to worry about that.
I've made us both breakfast although i didn't manage much i have at least had something
And i have bookmarked an item we will need in the new year
And i've been screened out of all surveys :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
So a little bit of productivity has gone on
My main money focus from now for a month will be food spends. I have not been very disciplined about keeping track. I spent quite a bit this week but this was due to vouchers that i had being due to expire. I don't think it was a false economy using them. I got 50% off a £4 spend on certain items - items which i buy and the offer could be used on items which were on promotion so i was getting eg 3 items on offer at half price and then got another 50% off (as i kept it at about £4) :T I had several vouchers to use but am stocked up on a few essentials now
So instead of saying 'next month...' i am starting this now for at least 1 month.
I aim to spend £25 a week on food for the 2 of us but am often over this due to my Mr's expensive tastes :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I need to see if this is what i am spending and if not what is it that is putting pressure on the food spends?
I am not sure whether £25 sounds a lot or too little - i aim to spend that but probably spend about £35. I would also add that we tend to try and buy our eggs from a local farm (my mr pays) I *still* have a freezer full of meat. I have cupboards full of tins and jars.
I do have a shelf full of miscellaneous food stuff that i need to use up - i think there is a mixture of bakery stuff - lots of different sugars etc. These haven't been used for a long time so i am going to start some baking just to use them up and clear the space. We have not been eating alot of sweet stuff lately but i think if its there we would eat it and get this shelf cleared and some much needed space back
Of course the savings from the food spends will be put to good use here
We have been chatting about our next major project here which is replacing the bathroom. We have been saving up for this for a long time now and have a bit in savings but not enough yet. But as we are getting nearer to the target we are looking at the next job that will be needed after this - it will make such a difference - the jobs we are doing are all a need and not a want its just we've not been able to afford to do them sooner
As you know i am saving to have the loft boarded at the same time the bathroom i done - i think i'll need to pay for this in full. But my Mr has agreed to the gutter being replaced at the same time. My idea is that if i save up the full amount for each of the 'smaller' jobs and my Mr then pays half the savings i have made can tip over into the next item that needs doing
Right off to check banking and think about freezing the food i'm not up to eating today
Hope all are well xxCC1:T £[STRIKE]2531[/STRIKE] £1460MORTGAGE OVERPAYMENTS: £10575.20 Target £12,100MF Date: [STRIKE]August 2042[/STRIKE] May 2035Declutter 1000 things by Xmas 2015! 53/10000 -
