There are only two networks in the UK that allow you to cap your accounts.

Three, the network built for the internet, who provide 2000 Mins, 5000 Texts and Unlimited data for £15pm.

And Tesco, the best all round network, who provide the same number of Mins/Texts but 3GB of data for the same price per month. Both networks provide other deals at lower price points with less minutes.

Another network to consider is Virgin is who offer Unl calls/texts/data (3.5GB fair use) on a 1 month deal for £15pm. The account cannot be capped but it is near impossible to go over any allowance, other than making out of allowance calls/texts.

For more SIM only deals and information please see the link below.
Make sure you sign up to a network that provides signal in your area.

There are actually THREE if you include the company you seem to have a bee in your bonnet about - Utility Warehouse, who imo use a far better network provider than Tesco (EE).

Haha, not a fan of utility warehouse as you're aware. Wouldn't really recommend them either, even if they do use the biggest 3G network in the UK.

Don't be silly! Have your credit file put at risk because of the actions of a third party? This forum is loaded with threads of well meaning friends and parents who discovered that they are out hundreds of pounds due to accident or inattention.

As you don't know the phone - there are differing phone SIM sizes to contend with, so it's a back move all round. By all means go for PAYG and arrange to regularly top up, that way you are not at any risk financially.

    Anything else is madness.

My sons have iphones and both are on Giffgaff - one is on the £7.50 goodybag as he doesn't use much data and the other is on the £10 goodybag.

You can set up Giff Gaff so £10 is debited via your bank card every month so a new goodie bag is applied........

no chances of over spending or taking a risk with your credit file.

Plus the one for £12 includes unlimited data (well near enough), so your teen can youtube and Netflix to his hearts content!
