The window has now closed VAT free from estonia. Even the 7% vat on silver from germany has gone up to 20%.

The only way is to visit the channel islands and buy your full allowance per person to get silver vat free. But the travel costs are more than just paying the vat and buying from bullionbypost or somewhere inside UK boarders.

Estonia used to be VAT free but now the law has changed.
I didn't realise that. Liberty Coins still says they're VAT free but if it's a change happening over this holiday period that'd make sense.

Its actually 1st jan the changes but there is not enough time to get it delivered inside UK boarders before then.

    There must be other options?

I am also trying to find out the allowance for each person to take back silver bullion in their bags from lower vat countries?

If I remember right its around £500 each individual. So a family in a car going over on the ferry say with 3 kids could bring back £2500 and not need to declare it. If you do get searched you can say each person has the allowance each.

How many ounces is that? What is it about £11oz silver at the moment, so that is quite a few tubes of eagles or maple leaf's.

You could probably sell them for the 20% more back in the UK to pay for the holiday and have a few ounces left over.

Once inside UK boarders all silver is worth 20% more.

didn't have the energy/will/resources to fight against an organisation who could hold my goods to ransom.

I can certainly concur with that.
Its worth remembering the Customs have enormous powers - more than the police. This dates from the time when their powers were granted by the King, who had the army with unlimited powers to protect himself, and wasn't so bothered about the police who were only there to protect we plebs. The Kings main priority was his tax collectors because his income and power depended on them.
They can seize pretty much anything, then delay as long as they like whilst you are spending your own time and money fighting people who are fighting with taxpayers money and being handsomely paid to do so.:(

I will be watching the price of Gold closely. I have left my savings in the bank for too long now, earning around 1% :( .

    Time to take some risks...

as long as the worlds currency supplies keeps getting debased

currency in the bank = return free risk

bullion kept secret out of the banking system = risk free return

    As a counterpoint

There is always the risk that anything you "keep secret" becomes lost or stolen.

And the return can be negative if you don't have an unlimited time period in which to hold the asset while waiting for currency debasement to outpace the changing demand for bits of metal.

Apart from that, the sentence is fine.
