http://www.aerialsandtv.com/planningyourinstall.html and much of the rest of that site is well worth reading.
Look at the aerials on the buildings around your home - you will need one similar to those... not the biggest or the smallest but the median or middle-sized one. Avoid the contract type with a pressed rectangular aluminium plate for the reflector.

I'd need to know more of your location to advise more accurately. CAI or RDI installers (NB they are trader associations not consumer protection bodies) may be OK, but personal recommendation is best. Some council trading standards have 'trusted trader' recommended companies.0 -

Are you a CAI member?Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -
Not at all:DAre you a CAI member?
I don't fit aerials and nor do I work for a Bank (which I've been accused of over on the PPI board).
Seriously, I just respect the organisation because it helps to ensure standards. I don't trust just anyone to clamber around on my roof after a bad experience with a cowboy roofer some years back. That's why I would never simply look in Yellow Pages etc for an installer.
Here's the thread I started back in July 2012 detailing my installation..https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/40737190 -
