  • Welcome Elle_Gee and Charlies-aunt! This is just the place for you. Baby steps to feeling fab again :)

I just know my gym is going to be packed out come January so I am trying to make the most of the next week whilst I'm still off work to go in the daytimes whilst it's still fairly calm! Off to spinning class shortly.

Really do fancy braving the sales but I've lost a stone this year and am VERY nearly in the next dress size down so I think I should wait to get into the next size down when I buy new stuff to encourage me to keep it off! What are everyone's weekend / fabbing plans? x

Morning All :) The hunt for a new pair of jeans starts today! I want a nice pair of trousers too.
Why on earth have bootcut jeans disappeared and been replaced with skinny jeans? Everywhere i go stocks skinny jeans, and bootcut are getting harder to find.
It's fine if you are skinny, as skinny jeans look great! But alas i don't fit into that category!

If anyone has any suggestions for nice jeans/trousers, please let me know :)

Very quick post but promise I am thinking of goals or a goal word.

My current favourite jeans come from Sainsbury's of all places. They're straight leg and I like the dark navy although I have black too. To me they're like the skinnies but without being too skinny IYSWIM.

I've recently bought some nice boot cut dark jeans from Tesco - was a bit suspicious of them but they're actually really nice on. Next also do boot cut jeans that I find ok - I'd look like two fat sausages in skinny jeans, my legs are more tree trunk than willowy no matter how much weight I lose.:rotfl:

Had a busy and quite stressful Christmas so far - all my family stayed with me from Xmas Eve until yesterday and the fetching, carrying, constant waitressing and tidying is very wearing after a while. But they've gone home now - my house is now clean, tidy and quiet - hurrah! The Fling did a charm campaign on them and they love him - all good news.
Fling and I had a nice quiet afternoon and evening yesterday sorting out his new flat (now fully moved in) and then a bottle of wine and a curry. I feel like a right proper fatty now though (some booze and food but also hormones that will subside over the next day or two). We've taken the dog for a good long walk in the countryside in the sunshine this morning to blow away the cobwebs and get a bit of fresh air - feel a lot better for it.

Will pop to Go Outdoors in a while to see if there's any outdoorsy bargains to be had - could do with some slightly more respectable dog walking clothes and maybe a bit of new running gear (I'm determined to get back into it).
Then its a quiet evening catching up on recorded telly and making some nice salad to use up bits in the fridge. Fling has his 17 year old son staying tonight so I'll leave them to a bit of male bonding with the new 50 inch telly (its huge!).

I'll have a think about this year's goals - just a couple so I'll manage them - and I'll pop back later with them.
Hope everyone is having a well deserved rest after the onslaught of Christmas.:)

As a fairly recent newbie myself, hi to the new ladies, it is nice to hang around here, friendly and helpful people.

My aim for 2014 is to become stronger and fitter. After 3 years of ankle pain, surgery to try and improve it 14 months ago, longer recovery than I had anticipated and not full improvement, I have been unable to walk very far for all of this time, couple this with a move to a dormer bungalow, I have become very weak. I have started working with a PT, although it is a bit expensive I have committed myself until the end of March, and feeling the benefits already. A horrid cold type virus which has left me without appetite and no get up and go hasn't helped, but on the mend now, the plus side is that I have not ate very much over Christmas. LOL

Not sure about a word, I will ponder on it.

    Hi Everyone

Just back from a preliminary poke about in DS2's new house. Good news - we uncovered two pretty cast iron fire places in the bedrooms, a lovely Minton tiled floor in the hall and nice wooden floor boards, so plenty of original features. Unfortunately the wiring looks like an original feature too so looks like a rewire required. Tbh I half expected that so not unduly concerned. On the plus side the kitchen looks better than I remembered, ditto the bathroom - so there's no urgency to upgrade immediately.

Popped into Aldi on the way home, time for rest now and a cuppa then later DS2 will be popping over to finish setting up the fish tank in OH's room.

WW - totally get you on the tiredness bit. I am shattered after Christmas. I am going to take a few days between now and New Year and try and have a bit of a rest although I've still not managed to see my mum and dad or sister yet so will try and pop over tomorrow.

I either need more hours in the day or more days in the week - preferably both.

Know what you mean about Boot Cut Jeans - they do seem to be getting harder to find. I got my last lot from ASDA and Sainsbugs. I actually bought a couple of pairs in my current size and a couple in the next size down - eternal optimist that I am. It took several attempts to stock up though - I just kept looking every time I went food shopping until I managed to grab them.

    Time for that snooze …...

Thanks all for the advice about the bootcut jeans.

I think i will need to drive the 40 minutes or so to the nearest City in order to find some decent ones. We only have a Tesco here, but it's a small one so limited choice of clothes etc and they either sell skinny jeans, skinny chinos, leggings or jeggings..grrr!

I like Next ones, but found that they go baggy around the bum after a while. Maybe i am just being too fussy!

I've bought my boot cut jeans from Peackocks, they are lovely and only £12.

I never thought I could wear skinny jeans but I embraced them. Have to wear them with either calf to knee high boots or rolled up like cropped trousers in summer. So ladies don't rule them out (or try straight leg rather than skinny) just try and find a way to wear them that suits you :D

  • My word is harmony. Its my aim for 14. Popped to boots yesterday and got some quinoderm bp, bts essentials frag free wash, moisturising lotion amd cream. Started the regimen last night. Going to get the kids bathed and n their rooms early tonight so can chill out.

Tomorrow we have a kids party which I'm not majorly thrilled about, but must be done. It's kids parties for the next three weekends actually. Oh well! One is my ds so can't complain!
  • Hi please can I join too?,
    I'm 55, fat and frumpy.
Got loads of weight to lose and really need to start caring for myself.
I know what I need to do and don't manage to do any of them.
It doesn't help living on my own as I just pull on jeans and jumper and tend to be a bit of a slob.
When I worked full time, I used to dream about doing this but the reality is not what I imagined.
I'm really going to try and pull myself together with this and sort out my health and beauty routines.
I'm really looking forward to following the posts on here.
