Stop making excuses. You were not concentrating and got caught. Take it like a man.
    You were obviously there.

AFAIK, I was concentrating as much as I have done for 30 odd years of driving.

Don't forget about nuns carrying baskets of kittens. ;)
No nuns in our area. Therefore not an unexpected hazard.

Cameras make most of their money in locations where it is safe to marginally exceed the speed limit. It doesn't make your actions legal, just a tad more frustrating when caught.
Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.

Erm, if there were nuns, they would be an expected hazard, so if there are no nuns in your area, it would be a wholly unexpected hazard if one did appear carrying her basket of kittens out in front of you.

And that's the problem with hazards that require emergency braking, they tend to be unexpected.

    So what is your argument?

I was concentrating therefore not due a ticket?

    They were sneaky?

    I wasn't speeding?

Either take it like a man or contact this chap:-

  • Amazing how speeding offences are generally 6am on a deserted dual carriageway, deserted except for the camera or camera van.......observation 0 ; )

I saw the van - hence the braking. It was on a bridge over the carriageway.

Probably quite a few are, at that time in the morning there's usually not much in the way of traffic or police, and folk tend to speed up a little as they perceive it to be a bit safer to drive faster and rightly or wrongly less chance of getting caught

    Newbie potential criminal here.

Thirty years of driving, no speeding tickets......until now. Not even sure I was speeding.....driven that road hundreds or thousands of times.

NIP says manned equipment......neither me nor my wife saw it. Is hiding behind a bush OK?

Also, I don't think there are speed camera signs there. Is that OK?

They say they have photographic or video evidence......will they send this to me? Is it possible they got the person in front of or behind me?

Sometimes we all get a little complacent and make mistakes - so take it on the chin.
  • Round here on a stretch of the A24 double dual carriageway they dropped the speed limit from 60 to 50 and the next week hid a remote camera behind a bush. Caught scores of the unwary. Bit sneaky though !

    Looks like theres no option.

But annoying to be caught by a camera van hidden in the bushes.
