There are big signs with numbers on them, don't exceed the number, then you don't have to look out for the van.Captain_Flack. wrote: »Not in a 30 limit there aren't.
a) Where there is a reduction from a higher limit (60/50/40) then the start of the 30 limit is marked by 2 750mm dia signs one each of the road.
b) In a local village the start of the 30 limit is signed as required by the TSM (Traffic Signs Manual) and as the first section has street lighting there are no further signs. After the end of the street lighting there are smaller 30 repeater signs again as required by the TSM. The presence of street lighting automatically means the imposition of a 30 limit.0 -

And that is why there are not 30 signs littered about. It may well be that there weren't any where the op was caught.0 -

Although street lighting is a 30 limit (unless signed otherwise) the relevant legislation requires the start (and end) of each change of limit to be signed. E.g. If you are driving along an un-lit road with a 50 limit and are coming up to a section with street lighting there are only two legal options:
a) 2 no 750mm dia "30" signs will be displayed at the start of the 30 limit - a precise location defined in the TRO (Traffic Regulation Order); or
b) the displaying of 50 repeater signs through the lit section to confirm the continuance of the current limit.
Therefore to comply with current legislation there will have been signs at the point at which the 30 limit commenced - the presence of street lighting means that repeater signs are not required. Failure to display the signs in accordance with the TRO effectively renders the limit invalid. The rules are slightly different when a new road is constructed rather than a change of limits on an exsitng road.0 -

Its easy to get dragged into a slagging match with these trolls because they resort to abuse rather than reason. I must admit I'm not used to this level of unwarranted online abuse. I've been advised via pm to ignore and report them.Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.0 -

What you mean is you've never been caught out bending the truth. You tried it the other day and were caught out. Jamie Carter knows it too. I thought as a police officer you were meant to have integrity . Maybe not in your case.0 -

Once again, you forget that this is ESSENTIAL unless you can GUARANTEE that the speed limit for every stretch of road throughout the country is a safe and appropriate speed for all conditions at all times.0 -
