I saw an advert in the paper for the above and they were offering PSP,Wii's,XBox's for £25.
I knew it must be dodgy but i attended anyway and well they sold a Nokia 8800,Ipod and PSP in a set for £10 ! ! !
I didnt bid for anything only stayed for ten minutes but surely it must have been a con! maybe you got a box full of bricks?
It was like something off the "real Hustle" !
Anyone been and actually bought something?
They provided us with contact details - an email address!
The website they gave was www.diamond-auction-sales.co.uk

What is very suspicious.. is they have given a very expensive London address as their premises... yet a Manchester telephone number.... :rotfl:

Well, just before we got married we went to an auction in the hotel (strangely enough) our wedding reception was in. This was in 1971!!! We bought my wedding ring there for a tenner and have never seen anything remotely like it! I had 18 months recently without my ring because my fingers had swollen with arthritis. Just didn't have time to go to get it resized! Thought I could buy something else to replace but nothing a patch on it! Got my wedding ring back recently resized and just so glad I can wear it now - felt married again as it was rather strange feeling to be without it. Not just memories but it is a lovely ring. Jeweller said it was probably worth £200! Not that that matters! I have decided I want to wear it when cremated so not worried about money value!
So, yes bargains can be had at these auctions but I suppose err on caution.

Sounds like another company that seemed to vanish, them under another name? If not just another dodgy lot out to make a fast buck and rip people off.

The scam is usually the first lot goes for quite cheap as people are wary about these things and probably goes to a plant in the crowd. Now they have cunningly worded what they say and everyone thinks wow I'll get a PS3 for £15 but end up with a couple of saucepans instead.0

It's called a 'Mock Auction'"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

it works like this, Various people in the crowd are plants, they will be the ones that manage to get the xbox 360 for £20 and the like and they hand everything back at the end once everyone is gone. The selling of these high vlaue items at low prices convinces the people who are about to get conned that everything they sell for this price will be worth much more. One of the most common items they then sell are watches that are worth a couple of pounds at most but they sell for £10/20. It actually was on the 2nd series of the Real Hustle.Bought, not Brought0

this is exactly how they work. i was conned about 6 years ago, they are very clever at how they do it. they even make sure you have cash on you or they turn you away, they dont let you open the bag you have won until you are outside and the shutters have gone down on shop and everyone disappears, they say its because you dont want to cause a row on the premises as you may have got more than someone else .. crap. i parted with a fiver initally and that got me a ball point pen and £60 got me a mini tape system i could have bought in argos for £20. i am not guillable by any means and i was well taken in. there were loads of them around in london at the time, they would pop up in a shop that had recently closed be there a few weeks then gone. i went back the next week and tried to see what was going on.i even spotted people behind the counter that had bought a min tv for a fiver the day before. tried watching the whole scandal but as soon as they saw i was not parting with any money they asked me politely to leave and let someone else get a look in. as there were queues outside. once you got in all doors were closed and bouncers huge bouncers were put on door. hung about a bit outside and saw few people in queue from day before wanting to take stuff back but was told not there problem, you knew what you were getting into. like i said they were very careful in how they worded things and you really didnt have a leg to stand on. they thankfully all disappeared with about 6 months. have not seen any around now for years. be careful is all i will say!!0 -
Ive never been conned by them.
I stay well clear.
They once tried setting something like this up just outside our village once. No one turned up from our or the surrounding towns and villages. We knew....0 -
I went to a Diamond auction today (29/6/2007) I personality didn't spend a penny, although a lot of people around me did up to £1000 each, I was asked if I had money/credit cards, other people were happy to let them know they had. And to give them at least £200 bids and not knowing what they were bidding on. Can not believe these thieves get away with it.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, don't buy off them.0
