ps3 hard drive almost full, what now?

i got battlefield 4 today to find there was a massive 750mb update to download. i then get a message saying the game has stopped because there is less than 500mb left on the hard drive. i ended up solving it by deleting things like game demos. still i imagine it wont be that long before it is full and i cant play future purchases as a result.
so whats the solution? should i simply just try to save up to get a new ps3?
before anyone says it no i am not getting a ps4 instead. that isnt a solution to playing more ps3 games anyway is it.

There are quite easy ways to fit a larger hard drive and copy the content over with a usb caddy. Have you looked on youtube?0

I managed to pick up an old hard-drive (2.5 inch SATA) on eBay, and it worked no problem. They sell for about £10-15 second-hand, £30 for a new one, obviously depending on size.0

I upgraded my hard drive size just last month!

It simply won't have room to DL the update so you won't be able to play online until you make some room.
In all fairness, you've done VERY well to still have a working 80GB this long after they stopped selling them so it may be worth looking at a replacement PS3.
As people on here have said, it's easy and cheap to pick up a bigger HD and swap them over, even someone with no knowledge can find a compatible HDD and do it within 20 minutes(if you post your budget I can link you one to buy along with instructions)
However, given the age of the PS3, you may just end up buying a HDD only for the PS3 to fail in the near future anyway0 -
its easy to replace the hard drive as it takes a standard laptop type sata drive.. use a usb harddrive to backup the current info and settings then install a new higher capacity one (have 500gb in mine), and restore the files back - or start with a fresh install once have recovered your account..0

***Donnajunkie*** have a read of this link, it includes instructions on how to copy your old hard drive to the new one
