What were these BACS payments (plural)? How many were there, where did they come from and how big were the sums involved?

If the pattern of those transaction did give the impression of some dodgy goings-on, then you'll have your reason for the closure.

Direct payments such as salaries, benefits are not permitted on savings accounts :D

  • Well i phoned natwest and they said it's fine.

Not to mention, the account was closed before the bacs payments even had chance to reach the account.

So are there any banks that i can walk into, with my discharge confirmation letter, that will accept me???

Obviously ive been declined by the following:

    Barclays (due to a debt)
Co op cashminder (dont know why)
Natwest instant access saver (opened account then closed)
Rbs (declined application not sure why)

What i think, like yorkshire boy said, theyre doing checks and its obviously being returned as still undischarged. Why? I dont have a clue. Which is why i think that natwest request that you have to go into their branch with a discharge confirmation letter. Just wondering if any other banks will allow you to do so? Maybe nationwide, lloyds, or sandtander?

Was your previous NatWest account part of your bankruptcy?

NatWest is part of RBS, so that would explain it.

If you borrowed money from me and didn't repay it, do you think I'd want to do business with you again?...especially such a short time later?...and with an undischarged bankrupt marker still on your CRA file?

But then I think you knew the answer to your own question...surely?

I know, but its just a savings account? No risk of any !!!! ups. I'll know my answer as to why they closed the account when they get hold of me tomorrow anyway. And as for the other banks i mentioned, i may walk in and ask to talk to the manager about opening up an account with my discharge letter.

I'm surprised it allowed the savings account to be opened. Your ID number should be marked internally to allow no facilities of any type to be offered. Full stop. Ever.

You want to try getting a CO-OP step account, designed for those who cannot obtain a bank account because of their history.

Step was a Natwest product I think. The Co-op's equivalent is the Cashminder account.
