Natwest are complete idiots!!

Options
So i open up a Natwest instant saver account last week, everything was fine, took my identification in and it all got verified and i got given the sort code and account number there and then.

So i decided to have bacs payments go into my account this week, without yet receiving the card, i went into the branch to withdraw my money and they said the account was closed 2 days ago!!

Well cheers natwest, no explanation either, and now i cant get mg money!!!!

How can they do this!?

I wonder if this is related to your past (specifically your discharged bankrupt status)?

Remember the discussion we had recently regarding searches?...maybe they did another (manual) search later and an underwriter overturned the computer's initial accept decision?

Either you're just very unlucky (in your ability to open bank/saving account products), or there's something you're not divulging in your threads?

Obviously they didn't like something on your credit report, so decided that they didn't actually want to do business with you.

How can they do it? Very easily, as explained in the terms and conditions that they gave to you.

Your money will bounce back to the sender.

Considering this was a savings account, I think there's something you're not telling us.
  • Its a savings account because i cant even open any basic accounts until i found out at the start of this week that all i have to do now is take in my confirmation of discharge, and they will grant me a current account.

So the savings account doesnt really matter anyway, just the money im not going to be able to access for a while, and a courtesy call really wouldnt go a miss!! They had my mobile number.

And why grant somebody an account, and then close it. I also was told on the phone by natwest that they dont do any 'credit' checks for savings accounts because its just money going in, and they aren't lending you any kind of credit, so how can my bankruptcy be a problem???

That's a question you'll be putting to NatWest then? Please let us know what they say in their reply.

Because they'll carry out an ID search (as I've told you before), and this will return 'public information' including bankruptcy details (at present undischarged), CIFAS fraud markers, AML concerns, etc).

I can't remember if you've said you've checked for CIFAS markers? If not, I suggest you order your £2 statutory reports from all 3 CRAs so you can see what the banks are seeing prior to declining you...because there's certainly something wrong (and I'm not convinced you don't know what it is ;)).

I have no Cifas markers at all.

Its probably the bankruptcy marker, but then again they should be able to see that im discharged now, and even so, why should that affect me obtaining a savings account?

.........Maybe the fact that if you have been shall we say hiding money from your creditors and trustee in bankruptcy and all of a sudden a nice lump sum appears in a savings account - who do you think the trustee will apply to have the monies repaid - even if you have spent them?
Answer the bank! That is why they do not want to do business with you.

What were these BACS payments (plural)? How many were there, where did they come from and how big were the sums involved?

If the pattern of those transaction did give the impression of some dodgy goings-on, then you'll have your reason for the closure.

    I havent hid sh** !

Im on the rocks of my a** on the dole, trying to save every penny i can, hence why i would rather have a sort code and account number, whether it be a savings account or a basic account, than as to paying cardonebanking £12.50 a month plus £1.50 withdraw charges!!!!

And the 2 bacs payments are my housing benefit and jsa !!!!!!

    £282 or so in total.

And the bacs payments were sent today, and will go into the non existant account on monday. So its nothing to do with that!
