Sometimes the spends just have to happen. You've frittered not a penny away, but it can be hard to part with money when you have worked so long and hard to NOT spend it, but to save it up.
So, a gold star to you for your purchases!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Thank you, Apple! I soooo needed to hear that today! :kisses3:
Mad morning, saw the final bill from our old energy company - over £400! Literally don't know where they dreamt up that figure from, am not happy in the slightest! So far I've worked out that they didn't use our meter readings, so I've sorted that out which will hopefully amend the bill but I need to get Mr M on the case because I can't fathom it and it freaked me out so much I couldn't think straight for most of the day.To cut a long story short, it's super disappointing if we have to cover this (would mean we'd been spending over £150 a month on energy, surely not? We used to only spend about £30!), but we can cover it easily thanks to our MS ways. It just means my Ultra Saving gets put back a couple of months. I'll survive! Though I'm so totally digging out some sort of drinky this evening to help with the recuperations. :shhh:
Couldn't face stir fry tonight, so at least that's tomorrow's tea sorted. Had beans on toast instead. And chocolate.
In money news, there were problems getting my new work shoes delivered so I've been offered a discount for the next pair I buy. :T
Cheered myself up this evening by looking at Rightmove. :rotfl: And I came to an interesting conclusion re: renting places around here. Don't know if I said but it's come to our attention the landlord wants to send our rent skyward so we're having to have a think about what we do. We can easily get another place close by, this location works on lots of levels, but then I realised that we could maybe move about a 20 mins walk away where we could get a house/larger apartment (maybe I could convince them to let me have a pet?! :j), and it would still be the same cost or even a bit less than what we pay now. But do we really want to add another half hour/hour onto our journeys each day? I wouldn't mind too much as I could walk it easily and that means free exercise. Mr M could get the bus (allergic to walking/rain etc), and with cheaper rent that would be affordable. As would higher energy costs (oh god, lets ignore that for now), but again that would be covered by savings on rent. Something to definitely think about, and great excuse to go noseying about on Rightmove :T
I don't think I realised that we could rent a house for pretty much what we rent now - which has eased my mind somewhat re: the next few years and any developments there (i.e. pets or small humans being added to the mix).
:www: MFW Wonderment: walked home from town rather than take the bus as planned. Investigated ideas for housing as per the above. Store cupboard scraps for sustenance again. :rotfl:
:coffee: Simple Pleasures: ooh, to cheer myself up earlier, I scattered my wildflower seeds when I went out for a walk. Hope they find a place to grow! :A
:heartsmil Burrow Building: managed to get rid of some of those pesky Piles O' Stuff. :T Rejigged a wardrobe and bookshelves some more, feeling a bit happier about the spare room now. Need to get rid of as many boxes in there as possible now - even though they store things, they're all sitting there looking a mess so I need to find a way to dispense with them.a penny picker upper. Hi pearla , if its a cat you may have a chance with renting, with a dog much less so. My dad has a few properties he rents out and has in the past allowed animals , but you may need to pay a bigger deposit and also maybe offer to pay for a deep steam clean when you leave ,it may help sway themMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

If the move improves your quality of life overall, then it's worth serious consideration. Just ensure you still pop by to see the flowers bloom...
Am also on the warpath against pesky - yet useful - piles of stuff.

I hadn't thought about a bigger deposit but that makes sense (and handy thing to keep in mind so I'll make sure I'm prepared!). I thought I'd offer to pay for any damage but I can't imagine there round be much as we have all our own furniture and I'd probably lean towards getting a (mostly) indoor cat so would be taking measures to make sure they weren't clawing doors etc. I've had indoor cats in rental property before so at least I come armed with some experience

Hope you've done better than me with the piles of stuff, I've been defeated this weekend and am currently trying to ignore it all.a penny picker upper. Phone case finally decided upon, size of new bag still being thought about before purchasing. Then I should be done buying stuff for quite a while!
Managed to damage Mr M's brand new (expensive but he got them very cheap considering) sunglasses which has rounded off this last week's worth of utterly expensive nonsense. Cest la vie.
In happier money news, did an Aldi shop with our granny trolley for lots of healthy fresh stuff and also did a sainsbobs shop for a few storecupboard extras as they were giving away free foodstuffs for some reason? So we have a long list of random free items coming from there. :rotfl:
Have decided to use the empty suitcases on top of our wardrobe to store my jumpers. Why didn't I think of this before? Think I'll use another one to store blankets. More space reclaimed. :T
Decluttered: two beer glasses, large cooking pot (unused as we bought better quality ones a while back), two magazines. Think I've finally decided to get rid of a vintage quilt I have. It takes up so much space and has been slightly damaged in the course of all my house moving over the past few years.I'm sure I can always find another in the future if I desperately feel the need? Haven't been able to face the excess boxes yet...

You win the shifting stuff away badge today.
A buyer for 2 of dd's hardly-used rucksacks failed to show - grrrr. And in the meantime, I acquired a KINGSIZE quilt and 4 pillows from freecycle. Not that we need them - all our duvets are double anyway. But I wanted the pillows to be able to use the stuffing. Turns out 3 are full of feathers and the 4th is latex foam. Ah well. As you said, C'est la vie! Will offer it all to dss when he returns from the Antipodes in the summer. In fact, will offer it BEFORE he returns as it'd be pointless having it hanging around the place if he doesn't want it...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Had just posted when I had a b r a i n w a v e !
Realised I had a huge empty suitcase in the wardrobe in the spare room (alas, just a suitcase and not a door to Narnia). Que hauling it out, filling it with the boxes that had letters/photos etc in), then a bit more reshoogling and suddenly I have two more bookshelves and a much more orderly looking room back! :j *lets the feeling of massive progress wash over*
There may actually be light at the end of the tunnel, omg.

Ooh, apple, we must have cross posted, I totally missed this!
Argh on the no showThough the mind boggles when someone wins something? I had so many no shows on freecycle, so frustrating when you're sitting on edge for people to arrive all day
Another argh for the bedding! (But what a great idea to use that for stuffing, why have I never thought of that?!)a penny picker upper.
