Building The Burrow!

So, oops oops oops. I got lost again. But mostly due to extreme MFW actions, did loads of overtime so that means lots more pennies for moi! :T
About to go walkabout for another couple of weeks as The Holiday is mere days away, but I'm determined to spend the time away ruminating on General life stuff and things I want to prioritise when I come back (including getting properly back into the swing of things here, gah...!) Had to buy some bits for the holiday but at
least it was general summery stuff that I needed anyway and will get use out of, so I can just about cope with parting with some of my precious pennies
Not much else to really update as life has mostly trundled on. Biggest news though is that there's been some developments with Mr M's job, and long story short it means a rather nice pay rise. :T It's very welcome as it means we can live a little more comfortably down here (housing and potential new vehicle costs-wise; it was all a bit of a squeak before), so that's a big weight off our shoulders. Doesn't mean we'll be bargain hunting any less though :rotfl: Though we do need to get meal planning big time when we get back as that has slipped rather majorly due to silly work hours.
15p went into the Kitty Bank today! I emptied him out the other week, had £9.72 in there, woot woo!
As for Simple Pleasures.... The river is awash with ducklings and goslings at the moment. I literally can't get enough of watching them swim about
Spending diary and budgets all uptodate and looking ok. Serious saving starts in a few weeks. A little delayed thanks to holiday/summer clothing spends but hey ho! Onwards and upwards. :A

Good to get an update, pearla! Was wondering if the move down south had scuppered life! COngratulations to Mr M on the pay rise and the subsequent breathing space it gives you both.
Where is your holiday? If you are buying summery stuff, then I guess it is somewhere guaranteed to be warm...

Howdy! I have returned!
Holiday was fab (we were stateside, apple muncher), I wish we were still thereSo depressing to come back to drizzle, lol. We had a few hairy moments as Mr Merle managed to injure himself, to the point where we thought we might have to come home but thankfully we managed to battle through and still had a good time, albeit to a different schedule than originally planned. Upside is that we might manage to figure out a cheap trip back early next year to make up for it, silver linings and all that. :rotfl:
I'm still rather dazed and confused from the long flight back so proper update to follow anon. Only other major bit of news is that my Fitbit brokeAnd I was clocking up 20k steps a day out there! So infuriating!! I've no idea when I'll be able to get a moment to sort it out. Hopefully soon, I miss it so much
To end on a happy note, we did a big Aldi shop when we got back so memu plans and cheap meals are GO! I also have more pennies in my account than I though upon my return so can't wait to start dividing it into pots and watching it grow, grow, grow....!
PS. Mr M also donated 15p to the kittybank :Ta penny picker upper. Actually, the house looked so spacious and welcoming when we came back. So lovely! Though I've already found more stuff to charity shop (working my way through unread national geographics then donating them). :Aa penny picker upper. Woke up at half five this morning for no reason whatsoever
Hence only a quick drop in this eve before I drop off
A few extra hours at work available this week, despite being the worst timing ever I daresay I'll have gotten over it once the money arrives in my account...
Cleared a whole bookshelf in my konmari/simplicity drive. A stack of DVDs are now waiting to be either sent on their merry way or their cases disposed of and discs to be found a new home in a slimline CD storage wallet thing.
Must check out local book of face selling site as I've noted a fair few things that I'd like to try and sell on there.
Had a £15 off online shop so that's been done with lots of staples bought.
Been pondering what I could do to be more environmentally friendly (& therefore moneysaving :money:), have a few water saving ideas up my sleeves so must make a list then try and implement it :cool:a penny picker upper. sorry to hear Mr Merle injured himself - hope all is well now
Decluttering a la Marie Kondo is quite addictive - in between categories I keep spotting random items and deciding that they are not joyful, so out they go!

Greent, I'm the same, I have so many bags of random rubbish or piles of 'need to check these with Mr M' sitting about the house. The more space I make the more stuff I want to get rid of.
I do feel do much happier now, I didn't realise how overwhelmed with clutter I was until I made real inroads into it.
PS. yes he's well on the mend, thank heavens! Never fun seeing him out of sorts as he's so jolly normally.a penny picker upper. Just another quick dash in today, just about recovered from holibobs and extra work but apparently now I've been volunteered to help out with some extra stuff for the forseeable future so hey ho. At least I should get a day off this week though. *crossing all my fingers on that one*
Found 1p yesterday and then another one today! The good times are back :rotfl:
Have done a lot of leftovers eating and spent some time perusing pinterest for recipes so now have a stack of healthy snack & meal ideas, some of which I shall try and whip up on my (currently mythical) day off.
Spending diary & budget spreadsheets up to date. On course to have saved about £200 this month, and that's after holiday spending (mostly bought 'useful' bits ie. tea, a long summery skirt, silver earrings to replace some broken ones etc), rather chuffed with that. Hoping to double that next month... we shall see!
Reorganised the bookshelves and managed to liberate another shelf! I've been reading a load of unread national geographics of Mr M's so I can donate them (thought I'd already said this somewhere but maybe not?), only problem is that I now really want to subscribe.Maybe best to check the library first?
