So oops, forget what I said about not spending in the summer sales. Might have got myself a skirt and some socks. At least it's all nice, useful stuff.
Went and had a wander around Bath yesterday, so lovely to wandering about in the sun and meandering down by the river. We've also found some neat little places for cheap cups of tea next time we go.
Also - gosh, it felt so calm there (despite crowds of tourists). I used to live in Edinburgh, and of course they're so similar and it really made me miss living somewhere that beautiful and cultured. It's made us both realise how much we need to find somewhere quiet, beautiful and inspiring to live. Our flat at the moment is lovely, but there's just nothing much of interest in town and it's so frantic around here. All the more reason to keep up with our money-saving ways to give us more options in the future.
Was knackered today though (probably not helped by feeling a bit homesick for pretty Georgian surroundings) - so just watched Miss Marple all day and did minimal housework.
(Ooh, one of my favourite Grand Designs is on - the one with the mad, retro multi-coloured sanitaryware in the bathroom. They have loads of things in their house I love. Feeling all inspired again re: rejigging the flat. And oh, living in a mad little house we've built ourselves)
:www: MFW Wonderment: used two together card for our train tickets. Had lunch out, but we shared a starter, main and side instead of having all that each. :T We also shared a two-biscuit snack pack when we stopped for a cup of tea late in the afternoon.
Cottage pie from the freezer for tea tonight.
:coffee: Simple Pleasures: a blousey, yellow snapdragon has randomly appeared in one of my flower pots. I think it came from an old seed mix I sprinkled on there last year. I'm definitely going to grow some (purposely) next year, it's so gorgeous.
:heartsmil Burrow Building: decluttered even more random odds and ends - am starting to get really ruthless with it all again. "Does this [item] fit with the person I want to be/vision I have for my life/surroundings" - more often than not it really doesn't!a penny picker upper. Another quiet day, though the house is looking a bit more shipshape now.
Listed the rest of those eBay bits and sorted out some financial bits.
Storecupboard couscous concoction for tea (used up veg & relish from the fridge). Leftovers for lunch tomorrow :j
I've (unusually) got the day off on Wednesday. Need to think of somewhere to go as I'm not sure I could take another day hanging about the housea penny picker upper. Had an unexpected, free hot lunch today!
I don't mind missing out on my leftovers packed lunch for such things
Did some self employed bits, and also cracked open my sketchbook for the first time in ages.
Have put off organising to get my hair cut (quite a few times now) - is that moneysaving or just plain lazy?
Mr M and I are mere moments away from qualifying for a first class long haul flight (plus will get a companion voucher via another cc offer, so free tickets for both of us). Will probably fly business somewhere for a holiday late next year then do a couple of European flights to use the rest up. Love it when a plan comes together
Even if it's taken several years :rotfl:

Though... now we've got our long haul flights we're both being slowly seduced by the idea of a gold run... http://pointstobemade.boardingarea.com/2015/06/13/ba-tier-point-runs/

Fabulously upbeat posts you've been making, P*M
The realisation that a job is just a job is great - when I reached that point it was like a weight had been lifted.
And you're going great guns on the decluttering!
I love Bath. It's about an hour from me and I don't go there enough - it's lovely for a womble around

It must be so lovely to finally be storming on with things now
Hope you like the books, I've just been rereading some of them - they always get me in the mood to go and Get Things Done.I also heartily recommend The Secret - there's something about it that's incredibly uplifting (and I'm sure it's responsible for helping me get those Kate Bush tickets a few years ago
)
I had spotted your thanks on my diary but never realised you had your own! Read through once I found you. Is that the one by Rhonda Byrne? Its on my listJune 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
We may have been in your neck of the woods yesterday, pearla! From the Beaconsfield services on the M40, we had to avoid the gridlocked M25, but still join it in the gatwick direction at some point. Dh's wonderful phone took us all around the back roads and several times we drove a short stretch alonside some water that made me think of you!
Anyhow, I waved to you!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

x(Unfortunately no going to live there - I saw an amazing flat
- the commute would cost about £800 a month )... which is just insane, you'd think they'd want to ease the burden on the South East
I absolutely do feel like a weight has been lifted re: work/jobs. It's so freeing - life is so much more than the time spent at work.a penny picker upper.
