  • That idea crossed my mind too! :D

I've completed a quarter of a (knitted) scarf! :T And did three pencil drawings this eve (now awaiting watercolouring in).

That's literally all I achieved today. This morning was a total write off - was feeling seriously dodgy (just lady time fun coming along to join other ailments :p). I can't take ibuprofen at the mo, which isn't helping. :( Anyhoo, feeling much chipperer this eve and I now can eat something other than cereal or toast, hurrah!

Erm... most moneysaving thing was being too out of it to get sucked into online window shopping (awful habit, lately formed). Looking forward to a more productive day tomorrow...

Thank you for assuming a) that I am capable of learning to crochet, b) that I might actually bother to learn instead of just talking about it, c) that I am the sort of person who would pass on her new-found skills to others. Smug face is on!

    :D Apple :)

Not much to report here - had a few more dodgy days but ultimately feeling much better and have managed a few wanders out and about (briefly visited charity shops - found nothing, alas. Did buy an eraser & pencil sharpener though as I've realised I've no idea where mine have gone and I need them for Etsy shenanigans ;) Oh gosh - must remember to keep the receipt for my business accounts!)

:www: MFW Wonderment: got OnePoll going again, am now £1.20 richer. Discovered that buying my bus tickets online gets me points I can then trade for vouchers - am not far off a £10 voucher!

:coffee: Simple Pleasures: hot water bottles, cosy socks, tea and toast.

:heartsmil Burrow Building: we've actually been eating meals at the table for once. :T So nice :)

Forgot to say - had an 0cad0 delivery yesterday (we usually do the odd online shop for some storecupboard stuff Mr M likes) and this time we got everything (veg etc) as Mr a needed a rest this weekend after a rather frantic few weeks but oh my, everything seemed to come in miniature! And didn't look anywhere near as good as our usual buys from Aldee. :( We'll probably have to go and pick more stuff up midweek, not impressed.

Feeling much chipperer today - have already got the washing machine on, planning a wander out later and with any luck I'll get my tax return done/started.

Think I might crack on with buying a few Christmas pressies for Mr M while I'm still at home (and can be here for parcels arriving rather than spending money collecting them from the post office. ;) Very :money:)

And must, must make a start on that online course I signed up for

Steady on the spending - an eraser + pencil sharpener = the start of the slippery slope to spend-spend-spend. Especially when coupled with utube searches for French songs!

  • Hi PM

Just catching up after being AWOL for a few weeks.

So sorry about your stint in hospital, but glad you are on the med now.

Take it slowly - you are needed in one piece...

    Best wishes

I've managed to get a cold. As if I didn't have enough ailments to be getting along with.

So I'm back to being tucked up in a blanket and watching lightweight fare on the tellybox (have been making my way through the Tinker Bell films :rotfl: They're actually pretty good :o)

In hip, hop and happier news: the other day I did manage to get out for a goodly walk and joined the library to boot. :T Had forgotten how lovely libraries are... I've been trying to read what I've already got on my shelves but I suppose some supplementation isn't a bad thing. ;) Got four (small) books out and polished off one already!

Tax return started, must attempt to finish that off tomorrow. Credit card agreement sent back, so should have my new card soon.

Bought a few bits for Mr M, have got a spreadsheet set up so I can track purchases/costs so I don't fall into the trap of buying things then forgetting and spending the same amount all over again.

Had a complete brainwave though - I started thinking about making my own vouchers so I can stagger buying him some bits (plus he's also seen the light about wanting experiences rather than stuff). I thought that might do for Christmas but I've come up with so many good ideas for days/nights out that in fact I may use it for his birthday thus saving me a fair chunk of pennies in the immediate future. :j

He (with the greatest subtlety :p) said that he liked the advent calendar I made for him many moons ago and would I do it again for his bday. Since we're going away for the actual day, I won't be bringing many gifts with us so actually that works a treat. I'll draw some fancy vouchers (they look amazing in my head... we'll see what real life delivers :p) and buy some cheap Willko-style bits to go along with them. Excited to have another little project on the go. :D

Yesterday I had to go for more blood tests, I popped into town while I was at it and treated myself to a super healthy asian-style lunch as I'd had to fast for the tests (almost flipping £8 though! I can't remember last time I bought a meal out so I can live with it - plus it's given me some fantastic ideas re: food things I can eat in this time of foodstuff austerity - I have to cut out fats almost entirely ).

I finally got myself sorted for underwear as well (the situation was rather desperate). So, erm, very spendy few days but all planned and considered and feeling very much relieved re: the presents idea outlined above.

Today I've managed to do some self employment stuff, laundry and and least two ten minute flurries of tidying. Early night tonight though - have been on tenterhooks all day waiting for deliveries so feeling quite tired out now.

:www: MFW Wonderment: OnePolled; 5p into the Kitty Bank; got more points on my travel rewards; Mr M has discovered he has about £80 in Nectar points, just need to think what to do with them now (and must check mine, it's been ages since I looked).

:coffee: Simple Pleasures: seeing a flock of oddments (Canada geese, greylag geese, ducks and pigeons) all snuggled down on the grass for an afternoon sleep; kicking the most gorgeous heaps of gold and red autumn leaves; finding new books! :j

:heartsmil Burrow Building: had a lovely cosy night watching Back To The Future II last night, planning similar activities this evening :)

  • Glad things are getting back to normal and best wishes for a speedy recovery. It is worth persevering with crochet. It is easy once you get the hang of it and I find that it keeps my hands out of the biscuit barrel......
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D
