After I witnessed and avoided a scrum (large ladies pushing everyone but their friends /family away), a checkout lady at our Tesco told me that the same regulars lurk every evening, ready for the kill.

On another occasion, the dairy aisle was the danger spot. Just as I was passing, an assistant arrived with a trolley of green boxes containing sandwiches and the grabbers there (probably road workers judging by their clothing) even frightened off a large man, who thought he'd get a quick snack, as they surged forward, arms flailing as they went.

As this seems a common occurrence it would, surely, be safer to have reduced items spread out at the locations they are normally sold in, while giving more people a chance, too.

its how my local M&S does it

Our local ASDA tried this, but quickly reverted to normal. They got complaints, not only from people who wondered where the bargain shelf had been moved to, but also that they were treating their customers like zoo animals, by scattering their food around their enclosure to "enhance their environment". Also, the normal stuff that people usually dumped on the bargain shelf was now also scattered around the store. The bottom line was, of course, that people couldn't find it as easily, so they didn't sell as much, which cost them money.
If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5? :)

"but thank you for the lecture" - LadyDee ...... you are most welcome, I always endeavour to shine light where there is darkness, to pry open closed minds and where possible, to entertain. ;)
