But we're not queuing in the cold or taking the risk we won't get what we wanted.

True, very true!! Would much rather do it online than queue up at 5am to try and get what I want! Just think its a bit cheeky the way they charge more for the VIP sale than the instore sale.
  • I have never understood the furore over VIP slots, it's marketing genius.

They've been doing it years and still business is good.

A good business won't have lots of end of season stock to shift, if they haven't got loads, they've done a good job.

Likewise the quicker they sell old stock or allocations, the better, especially in fashion where it's a liability having dead stock.

People buy loads, quickly under the guise of VIP. VIP prices have increased the past couple of sales. But as I see it, you're paying a bit extra to see you get something you want, and first pickings at still a reasonable discount. Come sale time all the good stuff goes.

I never got VIP for years, I do now, but I was prepared not to this year. I'd have just said "someone else's turn".

Next IMO are one of the last proper sales left. Where they're not doing them every two weeks. They have summer, Christmas and two mid seasons. Which is why their sales are so popular.

I just think people get so entitled on deal sites, as bargains can be got all year round. NEXT sales have always been more exclusive as they don't do them all the time.
  • It's not marketing genius.

If the number of people who wanted to buy Next Sale online all went on at the same time, the website would go down, as it did a number of years ago. Therefore the volumes are staggered...

Tink isn't speaking volume as in bandwidth and servers.
It is marketing genius to hold onto the old tradition of proper sales while other companies devalue their brands by having weekly sales.

  • It's simply not.

If you're selling successfully at full price you don't need to have more sales.

That not marketing genius, it's just the sign of a well run business.
