Hi Steph,
Firstly, thank you for the cover it is great, it really matches one of the colours in kitchen tiles, so think I will use it as bread maker cover and put old BM cover on iron, and possibly ask you to make me another for Kenwood chef:D
You have some pain in the **** stuff going on this week, paypal, barclays and now family, 3 things, so hopefully all done for a while.
Good that DH and you are singing from same hymn sheet on the family stuff, good idea for you to have a moan at FIL and GF about how you have too much to do, looking after OH, children, livestock, poly tunnel, PT Assoc, family admin and worrying about your DM, etc. hopefully they will get fed up and just back off (fingers crossed smiley?)
MM
P.S. Meal plan needed in case you defrost joint and don't need it for guests:)
Hi MM
I was just thinking this afternoon, I wonder if MM has received her Iron cover yet. So glad it matches your tiles and also fits!!.. Phew...
Funny that you have swapped it with the bread machine cover. There was lots of that Oil cloth in my local haberdashery, so if you want more covers making just let me know. xx
You are right about the three bits of hassle. Hopefully that is me done for a week or so now.
I have got a large Spare rib of Pork defrosting, but if I slow roast that, there are quite a few meals I can generate from it. Might be pork all week :rotfl:.
BIL still hasn't replied about tomorrow so I am trying to think of some wording I can send that will make it nicely clear that we don't expect him to be visiting tomorrow now. I can just see them turning up unexpectedly .
Still no change in the Paypal Chargeback status, and disgustingly, no reply from the buyer after I emailed them personally to ask what the problem was. Some people!!
Kids have had a nice day, off with friends. Ds now has a mate round for a sleepover and Dd is off on a sleepover. These children have a much better social life than me.
Hope you are enjoying your weekend xx0 -
Hi Steph, was about to suggest a long (free) walk around the time the rels might turn up & you would say brightly "Didn't know you were coming, it's soup & bread today" but I see you have started defrosting some pork so at least its a no spend type of meal from the freezer with several meals to use it up so all is ok.
Ps sorry that sentence was so long.:)0 -
Morning Steph, did you hear back from relatives? I think it's bluddy rude to be so ignorant myself and would just tell them where to go if they've just ignored the invite and I certainly wouldn't be inviting them again. If they asked why I wouldn't hesitate to tell them how rude they were either
Think my approach is probably a little blunt though
so maybe go with Baglady's idea :rotfl:
Hope you have a lovely day!
P.s did you pay full price for YNAB, I need to purchase before the end of the month and didn't budget for it (haha quite ironic really) and have seen it's quite expensive but can't find any offers?!

Hi Baglady
The walk is a good idea, hubby is quite adamant though that if they turn up, I am not to start flapping sorting food out for them, they can just had a coffee and go again. Eeeek.
Pork is in the oven to slow cook, will build my weeks shop around that joint. Pork-o-rama :rotfl:debtfreewannabe321 wrote: »Morning Steph, did you hear back from relatives? Hi DFW,
I didn't hear back from BIL, I messaged him at 8pm last night saying something like
"Hi, no worries about tomorrow afternoon, by no reply I assume you are too busy. Probably a good thing as I seem to be full of a cold today. Take Care. Steph"
I wanted to draw a line in it, so that he knows that I am NOT expecting them to visit. One of my pet hates is unexpected visitors, especially those expecting dinner
Fingers crossed they don't roll up .
Steam did have some good deals, but I did see a thread of YNAB discounts on MSE, Will go and have a look for it when I finish typing here. I think I managed to get it for £19.99.
You did make me laugh as that is exactly what happened to me. I didn't budget for the YNAB software either :rotfl:
I am busy in the middle of making up a batch of Family trees today. I am trying to do 5 at the same time. Will work out to be £62.50 if I can get them done in a decent amount of time :T.
Have a great day xx0 -
Aaargh DFW,
It looks like the 25% discount on the Steam website has ended 30 June. It is now quoting £29.99.
I would leave it to the last minute before paying as another offer may well crop up. Steam apparently did a flash sale for 1 day with it for sale for £7.49 .
If I were you I would check the Steam website EVERY day until you need to renew in case they start another discount period. They are always offering discounts. xx

Hmmm I'm abit worried.
I have been listening to Dave Ramsey and he has a lot of callers about savings plans & retirement plans.
About a year ago I sorted through our finances and made sure we had the following:-
Will = Done
Large Life insurance + extra Payout to cover short-term money panic = Done
Health Insurance for hubby - This covers us for £1000 per month if hubby is unable to work due to illness after a 4 week period = Done
There is no way in at the moment we could afford to pay any money into a retirement / savings plan as we are currently over stretched as it is, BUT when the debt is paid off I will have around £800-£1000 per month freed up.
Trouble is I just did a pension calculator thingy and it says for me to have enough to live on at 65, I would need to put away at least £933 per month .
YIKES!!! Am I the only idiot that isn't thinking about how we will live when we reach old age. Our home does have a lot of equity in it, probably around 291k so I suppose we could always sell up and downsize which would sort us out.
I guess I can do no more than just get this debt beat and start saving asap.
What are your thoughts on this?. xxx0 -
Will he be stopping work at 65? Will you be joining the workforce when the kids are much older ? Is that £933 before tax/ni.
We have decent pension pots but I've not worked for 10 years and really need to start putting one away.Sealed pot challenge 822

Hi Dawnybabes,
I was hoping hubby didn't have to work after 65, as the building trade is a tough line of work. Unsure what I will do in the future, kinda hoping to cave out a income at home, but may be driven to get some sort of work once the kiddo's are in High school. Once they are old enough to be left at home during school holidays.
I think is was £933 before any taxes
Its certainly something to think about. If either of us die then the other will be fine hehe, but can't guarantee that, so once we are debt free I think we definitely need to start up an ISA or something that will earn some half decent interest and I guess just hope for the best.
We certainly can't afford £933 per month for the rest of our lives.. Eugh....0 -
Well I don't want to speak too soon, but it looks like we got away with it.
No family has turned up :T.
It does signal that I am officially never making the effort again, but at least we all know where we stand.
I am pretty sure they have managed to change it round to being my fault that today didn't happen, but in my world, when someone invites you to dinner, it is customary to reply.
Kinda glad as not over keen on them as people, but because they are family you try to keep in touch.
Been busy all day making the Family trees, and we have a very generous pork roast to eat for dinner. Yum
Hope you have all had a lovely weekend xx0
