Right Steph this is what I would do.... Its £200 which I know is a lot for you at the minute but in the grand scheme of things its not a lot of money. This could potentially be a nice little earner for you. Surely your friend must think that it is viable or she wouldn't have suggested it. I would take the chance..i think your mind set has totally shifted and you would be more determind to make it work. The fact that you are actually thinking through the pros and cons already shows that. Its hard to get work that is flexible around kids so this could work for you. If the course had of been £2000 that would be a different story. Sometimes in life you have to take a chance

What does your hubby think?
Hi
Thanks so much for taking the time to help.
Hubby can be a little negative at times. I am the pro-active optimistic member of the family. He thinks I need to be at home getting all the regular jobs done, but problem is washing clothes and preparing dinner doesn't PAY!.
I don't want to sit around for years half heartedly trying to pay off this debt. I want it gone!.
So he just looks at past half hearted ventures of mine and would just see the £200 and nothing past that.
He wouldn't stop me, but I know what his opinion will be before I even mention it.
You are right about the £200 being a small amount in the scheme of things. There is no way I would even contemplate it if it was £2000 .
Marketing my business has been my downfall in the past, but I have had a lot of success with my FB page and feel that that would probably work for my Holistic Therapies too. Our village magazine only charge £30 per year for twelve issues and sure I would get business that way as well as the Friends Spa.
I might pitch it to hubby that the Reflexology cost us a lot of money , that was near to the £2000 mark, so its about time I got back to using it again.
I am so indecisive sometimes xx0 -
Could you talk to your friend and see if you could loan the £200 from her spa as she's the one who wants you to do the course, and negotiate to pay it back £5 a session for 40 sessions, or £10 a session for 20 sessions? That way, you know you are guaranteed that amount of work as your friend will want the money back, and she will gain a reliable person to work for her.

Hi lhead
Hmmm very interesting idea. Will have a chat to her. Thanks hun xxxx0 -
Oh Steph, do it do it do it!
Being trained as a reflexologist is an amazing skill to have - nobody should let their qualifications lay dormant when they can use them; it's such a shame to let them go to waste (especially if you paid £2k for the training to begin with).
As someone else suggested, it may be an idea to chat to your friends re her flexibility with paying for the course, or negotiate some minimum terms so you know you're guaranteed to get enough hours to make the £200 worth it.
Even if not, I'd be very tempted to throw caution to the wind and do it. £200 is a lot when you're MSEing - but, in the grand scheme of things, it's not. You're busting £1000 a month at the minute! £200 of that isn't much, if one month you just pay £800. Or take a little out of your savings pot. It's 10 sessions work - you may get that back in as little as a week - then the rest, is pure profit, and you'll make that £200 decifit AND MORE back in no time.
Good luck deciding hun. We're all behind you whatever you decide xx0 -
I agree with the replies, you should do it! xxTime to start again0

I think you should do,it too, just a few clients a week Nd you can make such a difference.Sealed pot challenge 822

I think you should do it Steph especially as you have a friend who has the business already set up and is in need of you - I think it is a win win you haven't got to chase the work, you will be doing something that you enjoy and you will be meeting new people and getting out (whilst doing your reflexology you could get a few orders for your crafting as well
)
Have you any idea how often your friend needs you at the mo and could you do the reflexology now and start earning and save for the indian head massage I'm so excited for you StephCiaerda:T0 -
I would do it too
I trained as a reflexologist (and beauty therapist/hairdresser/and reiki practitioner/masseuse) and I do b^gger all with any of them! I would love to do indian head massage and I think the course is well priced. Just think I threw away 4 times that amount last month on a useless car we had to scrap. You will get something out of that £200 and make your money back! Wow thanks so much guys. You have such faith in me.
Well, This afternoon just got better and better.
I went to visit a good friend of mine, had a chat to her about my issues etc and she asked what training company I was going to. I logged onto the website to show her, and she started saying how she had always want to learn how to do it just for fun, so she rang up the company and booked us both in for MONDAY!!.
And she insisted on paying and I can pay her back whenever.
Wow what a friend!!. She is such a sweatheart and I almost feel she has done all of this just to get me to do it.
So I am going on Monday, unbelievable!. I have asked hubby if he can drop the children to school on the way to work and a friend will look after them for a couple of hours after school till I get home.
Looks like I am doing it.....
Still reeling from it all hehe.
Had better add swatting my Reflex points as well as crafting from now on0
