    Morning MSE,

    Grrrr I am abit annoyed.

Back in April I had a clear out and sold tonnes of stuff on Ebay.

One of them was one of my sons Wii Skylander figures. It sold for 99p + £2.60 usual astronomical Royal Mail Postage cost.

    £3.59 Total

Well, this morning I get an email from Paypal saying that there is a chargeback on my account of £3.59.

Looking into it, it seems that the buyer has filed a chargeback with their bank over this transaction claiming it was taken fraudulently .

I have replied to the case that has been opened with a photo of the Royal Mail postage receipt. It wasn't tracked unfortunately but you can't justify charging people for that kind of postage over a 99p item.

I have also emailed the buyer personally explaining that I posted the item in good faith and after no communication otherwise from them, I assumed it was received and all was well.

Looking at my Ebay account they haven't left feedback which is annoying as that could have been proof that they were happy with it.

Surely if they didn't receive it they would have contacted me during this 3 months??

I am so annoyed as if what I have read is true, If the bank sides with the buyer I also get hit with the banks costs which is often around £14 .

To say I am annoyed and frustrated is an understatement. If I get hit with this charge I am NEVER using Ebay again as you just simply have no protection whatsoever.

  • This is what puts me off selling on ebay.
In future you could get proof of postage which is free so there if is any comeback you have the proof. If they charge you I would complain to royal mail about their service and that you want them to reimburse you these charges as it was their service that caused them. Doesn't hurt to try.

Think I have roughly £150 - £200 worth of goods to sell from my walkabout the house valuations. Highest value items are: a dining table and 4 chairs (we never use it as there is only two of us but still unsure whether to get rid?) and the other a glass top coffee table which just used to put paperwork on so doesn't get used either. Rest is various dvds, books and electronic items. Thats before I have even looked at my shoes.
That voice in your head that says you can’t do this is a LIAR!
