Thanks for replying. Its nice to hear from others that I am not being a terrible parent selling off their old presents
.
They are at an age now (9 & 7) where they know we are being frugal to achieve the goals we want to achieve.
I haven't ACTUALLY told them that we have lots of debts, as I could not be certain that they wouldn't tell their school friends and teachers . We are trying to build a large extension on the side of our house, so I have told them that we are being REALLY careful with money so that we can build the extension. A bit of a safer version to tell them.
Thanks for your help, will see if they sell xx
I think that is the best version of events to tell them too. I have taken some bits that DS got for his birthday and will keep them up for other children's birthdays. You know fiddly toys that they have loads of. DS got loads of stuff for his birthday so he won't miss a few bits!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Yay I love Facebo#k sometimes.
I finally finished the Happy Birthday Felt bunting that was for a friend. I will hopefully get paid by her £20 over the weekend for this and will transfer it straight against the Barclayc#rd.
I posted a photo of it on Facebo#k and immediately got an order for some more bunting :T.
I will have to buy some bunting tape, which will only be about £1.50. So will have another £18.50 to pay off debt as well. Its a rush order that needs to be delivered by the weekend. This is good as it MAKES me get on with it.
I MUST MUST MUST get making some new things to advertise on FB. I can make so much money this way.
Yay £38 made today x0 -

Thanks Miz, I would never push for anyone here to buy anything from me, just thought it would be nice to show you the things I ramble on about
. Glad you like it x
Hope you are feeling much brighter today, I am sure you will be round to pick me up when I have a rough day. That's the beauty of this site. We all help each other.
Keep smiling. xxx0 -
Hi Super Steph, great bunting and love the T shirt. I am one of those people who works better to a deadline too:(
I think selling the musical things and any toys they no longer want is fine, the family is a team and although I agree they don't need to know the detail, but children need to grow up knowing about the ups and downs of life (in a gentle way appropriate to age) imho, otherwise how are they to have any inkling of how to deal with the stuff that life throws at them when they are older. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. Hi Steph,
I've told my 14 year old the plans and why it appears money is tight. Although she gets it, you can see that she still worries that there is no money available - especially as we have not booked our holiday yet. We have got the money put aside just lazy to be honest.....
I think giving them some detail and an interest in being frugal are good skills to pass on - wish I hadn't been so honest.
The felt work is AMAZING....

Morning Steph
Loving the bunting, I am very jealous of your crafting abilities. Its something I would love to be able to do but unfortunately my crafting skills are pretty much non-existant.
Its great that you got more orders through posting a pic on fb. And well done for facing your fear and answering the phone.
You're doing brilliantly

Thanks MM, Magsnoodle and MissTara so all your kind words.
Balanced the bank account against YNAB this morning, not much happening, just the groceries from Mr T coming out, all budgeted for.
Two pairs of Ds's shoes sold last night on #bay. Abit depressing as they were both very expensive shoes and they sold for .99p each
. (Adidas football boots & Vans Skateboard trainers).
Both pairs were in nearly new condition because I had abit of spending spree a year ago and he had more shoes than he really needed
. Oh well, its £1.98 towards the debt.
Guess its ups and downs with #bay , you never can tell whats going to go well or not.
Still got quite a few things listed. Still haven't sorted out Ds's electronic music stuff to sell. Must get on with it.
Hope you are all having a good day, nearly the weekend xx0
