  • Hi Steph, I love your charts - as a closet list maker I think they're great! It sounds like a good idea to tackle the "Debts with Big Interest " first as the Littlewoods one is so small (relatively speaking) now you could practically knock that one over with incidentals, bits of change etc. Am I remembering correctly that the interest on that one is frozen? I think this year you could make a massive difference early on by tackling the Tesco's & Coop or maybe even the Virgin one as it is a larger amount than the Coop. Whatever you decide to do you are in a much better place than this time year. I hope you have a lovely New Year. We are in as well, will probably watch the kids fireworks from home (have a good view of the harbour in Hobart) at 9.30pm. Will probably be asleep before the big ones at midnight!
    Cheers Bl1
  • Just spent the last few days reading your diary - you are such a determined and inspirational lady:T

Fingers crossed you can clear the rest of the debt by December 2015 - I reckon you will manage it by October!!

    Hi EE,

Thanks for stopping by, thanks so much for ploughing through my diary, its a tough read in places with all my moaning :(.

I would love to kill off all the debt before Christmas, but if it is just all gone by 2016 then i will be happy. :D

Hope you have a fantastic New Years Eve. xxx

    Hi Steph,

Hope hubby notices the snowball chart and you can have that conversation - fingers crossed.

Love your colouring in chart, that's a great idea for motivation. I'm very obsessive about updating my signature and calculating % paid. I find that really keeps me on track as I love seeing the % paid go up even if it's 0.1%.

In case I'm not back on before then, hope you have a good time tomorrow night and happy new year x

    Hi MissT

Thanks for posting. I am the same, I really enjoy the moment i get to update my signature with new totals etc. :o:)

Have a wonderful New Years Eve. xxx

    Hi Baglady,

Littlewoods, Barclays & Virgin are all interest free. Hopefully just by paying my minimum payments Littlewoods will be gone in the next two months.

I would love to get rid of Barclays but as they have been kind enough to freeze all charges and interest then I should really kill off Tesco's as a priority. thats costing me a average of £80 pm .

Co-op is also charging interest and as its small I felt it would be nice to kill that off as a priority and then move onto Tesco.

i could never have tackled bigger debts first last January as debt busting was all so new to me. But now I am an old hand at it, I feel I can cope with the slower progress of paying off a large debt first, just to see the interest amounts getting lower.

Have a lovely New Year Eve watching the Fireworks. Wish we had some here we could watch but we are miles away from anywhere.

Haha think I was posting on your diary as you were posting on mine :D.

    Gotta love a spreadsheet :)
  • Hmmm just had a little idea about my envelope system for the new year.

Dd does Gymnastics every Monday night in our nearest large town (15 miles away).

She insists that I stay to watch her, but straight afterward while I am in town, I could pop to do my £60 cash envelope Tesco/Lidl shop and also get my weekly budget for fuel as it is tonnes cheaper in the big town than the small village fuel stations I end up using.

This is perfect as it is a Monday so its the start of the week and as I am already in the town it isn't using any extra fuel. :T:T

Off to check what time Lidl closes at night :D = yay its open till 9pm
  • Love all your charts they look great even better seeing them filled in, well done on all your achievements you have done so well and even had a little break to boot.

I have a chart to save for our holiday and one for dd bedroom to finish decorating, the kids then designed around the chart and each square is £25 which they can colour in as we add the funds to each envelope.

Sounds like a good idea to do your shop when in town on a Monday and will definitely save on fuel.

All the very best for 2015 I can feel it in my bones that you will have a great year!

  • Just catching up on your diary Steph and your signature is fab, you have done amazing work in a year! You are my inspiration.

I also love your spreadsheets and charts, I'm quite a visual and numbers person myself so have spreadsheets on the go but I am definitely going to rob your chart idea and print it off and stick in my wallet. I want to get down to below 10k debt by year end so each square would have to be €70, love this idea!

Best of luck for 2015 and Happy New Year (PS I am 40 this year also)
