Hi Steph, I have been having to read and run this last week, but just "dropped by" to send you a huge virtual pat on the back for all your debt busting and budgeting for birthdays, Christmas etc, you have done so well and as per your last post if you can continue to increase your incomings and control your costs you will have an amazing 2015 too:T

One lady blogger that I have followed switches into mental role play when she has tasks to complete that she does not like, perhaps you should try and think along the lines of "Steph family & Co" and YNAB your family business:D

Have a lovely Christmas, and take no account of the in-laws, there are some people that you cannot please however much you do:(

Thanks MM, Hope you are all sorted for Christmas now and getting chance to have a sit down.

Good idea about the role play idea for the finances. I have heard Dave Ramsey say that if we controlled the finances for our work, like we do our home finances most of us would have been fired by now :rotfl:. i know I certainly would have done. :o

One thing I do need to perfect this year, if keeping hubbys self-employed income and expenses separate from the home finances.
I am rubbish at that, and have big plans each April to transfer all work dd's into a separate account and have hubby use a different card for his fuel and work expenses. Trouble is money is ALWAYS so tight I can never make sure there is enough money in the business account. I must work on getting that sorted out this year as it could get us into alot of trouble.:o

Sorry have started waffling again, I have got so much going round in my head :D.

  • Morning all.

Well things are looking scary. We have officially .22p left in the bank

I think hubby is due about £1100 from his two weeks work, hoping hoping that hubby gets paid today so we can dash into town and get it into the bank.

I'm embarrassed to say that I think I am only going to manage a rubbish total debt payment of around £400 this month :o:o.

I will fail to meet my target of only having 10k debt left and will probably have more like 10.8k left :(. BUT I have managed to get through this Christmas without adding to the debt. I MUST celebrate this fact as it is the first Christmas that I can remember where I haven't gone crazy and added around 2k onto my debt with catalogue and cc purchases :o.

I am going to make my minimum payments, draw a line under it and start afresh in January.

For once I am not going to beat myself up about it. I have gotten further with the debt reduction than I ever have before, virtually halving it in 2014.

Its going to be a battle to get this debt gone before Christmas 2015 but I am going to hit it hard January onwards. I am cooking up lots of ideas to help with the push. I doubt very much I will make it before I am 40 in July but really want it gone well before Christmas.

    Thats my 2015 challenge.

You have done so well, £400 paid of in December is great, not only the added expense of Christmas (and dd birthday) but a reduction in DH wages.

You should pat yourself on the back. You have come so far this year and now it's downhill :-)

So close but so far - 99% of my 10K target paid off. :o

£10647 left to pay off in 2015. The total may be a little higher than this as I haven't looked at what lovely interest Tesco has charged this month, but its in this region.

Well done Steph I think you have done really well enjoy Christmas and relax. I'm raising my glass to you to wish you a fantastic 2015 (well it is actually a cuppa but my virtual glass of bubbly) xx

  • Yay hubby got paid :j. and it was a little more than i had worked out he was getting, so I definitely have enough money to just about see us through to hubby next pay check on the weekend of the 10th January. As long as we do not have any unknown expenses, such as New years eve.

I have a little bit of cash in my purse to get mum her Christmas presents tomorrow and a few bits of Lidl then I am totally done.

Not sure whether to take the trip to visit mum tomorrow afternoon or leave it until Christmas eve. I would have liked to have gotten that job done before then though so hopefully i will have time tomorrow.

Thanks for you kind words Dawn, MTG, Verbatim and Ciaerda. I have tried my hardest this year, slightly surprised I got this far actually as its the first time I have stuck to it for so long. No going back now, too much progress has been made.
