Thanks guys, It feels good to get abit of a deal sometimes on these things. Not done much else today, I have managed to clean the bathrooms but have now nearly run out of time.
A friend is getting rid of a small chest of drawers which would be perfect for Ds, who only has 1 chest of drawers for his clothes which are overflowing. I have to go collect that at 2.30pm.
I ought to give his drawers a clean out of "too small" clothes, I've been abit reluctant to do this so far this year as he has such a shortage of clothes.
Might do it now, he will have a new chest of drawers and had some kind donations from folks on here.
Another job to add to the list0 -
Hi all,
I don't normally post this late, but having trouble switching off after abit of a traumatic bedtime with Ds.
He read his school book to me and then proceeded to have a meltdown because apparently he has a maths test tomorrow in school and when they did a small maths quiz today he really struggled and felt that everyone else knew the answers and only he didn't. I felt so sorry for him, but I also explained that just at lights out time isn't the time to tell me of a problem with something happening the next day in school .
I sat back down with him and ran through his tables. I think his main problems is, that he knows them but only in sequence. If someone just just fires 8 x 9 at him he is then panicking to run through the 9 times table to find out what the answer is..
I told him not to worry about the test tomorrow, just to do his best and it is only probably so that the new teacher can see what he is good at and what he is struggling with. We will practice his tables every night after school from now on.
Blimey kids do throw a curve ball at you sometimes.
Then he started on with his worry about his bedroom being downstairs as it makes him nervous. We live in a chalet bungalow, with only two bedrooms upstairs (we do have planning permission to build a new bedroom but not afforded it yet).
I have a baby monitor next to his bed and the parent unit is on my bedside table, so if he calls or there is any weird noises, I will go straight down to check on him, but it does still play on his mind.
He has slept in this room for nearly four years now, so not sure if he is just picking on this issue when he is tired or if he still really worries. Another thing to guilt trip myself with over not affording to build the extension because of our debt and this is negatively affecting my children.
Tempted to put the spare bed up in his sisters room and him keep his bedroom but just sleep in her room. Expect they will just muck around though so doubt it would work.
Aaargh he has messed with my head this evening, probably all just to stall having to go to sleep but he is very good at laying the guilt and worry at my door.
Just the joy of being a mum I suppose.
Ok that's all off my chest, maybe I can go to sleep now. Hubby is still at his after tennis drinkies so haven't managed to bend his ear about all of this tonight.

Hi Steph, just commenting as I always read but don't usually say anything. 71% is brilliant you are making such good progress against your £10k 2014 total. I looked up Dave Ramsey too, interesting and as you say ultimately you will have so much less to worry about when you are debt free. Sorry to hear that your son was upset, new classes and new teachers are unsettling. One thing that is a plus is that you will be debt free whilst your children are young so you will be ready for teen-age years which are more expensive.0

Aww Steph, I hope your DS is ok today. I used to be the same with maths tests so feel his pain
I think he was just using delay tactics personally though as my ds1 used to do this to me when he was younger, it took me years to twig that the only time he threw all these worries at me was when he was over tired!!! My ds2 is not enjoying school this year, he hated it last year too
I personally think he's too young to even be there but that's another rant I'll save
When my ds2 is tired/stressed/upset he does this odd thing of literally suffocating himself with his fluffy blankets that he's had since a baby. I think it's a comfort thing, we went in last night and he had 5 (!!!) of these blankets wrapped around his face/head/body and had fallen asleep but I'm so glad I checked as I swear he will actually suffocate one day! DH pointed out he hadn't done this since July when they were last at school
made me feel awful for sending him in ....he's a proper mummys boy and so much smaller than everyone else in his year that I think I still see him as a baby (oops!!!)

Thanks for your kind posts tootallulah, Dawn and DFW,
I do think you are right about it being stalling techniques, mixed with first week at school worries and over-tiredness.
At the risk of giving you all "Too much information", my period started this morning and I am always over-emotional and stressed on the run up to that monthly joy. Think that's why I possibly over stressed about Ds's upset last night.
I went through his 9 times tables again this morning and he seemed a lot more positive today. We give his mate a lift to school every morning too and he said he struggled with the test yesterday too, so I think that made him feel better knowing he wasn't on his own with it.
DFW - my son is a very emotional boy, and takes things to heart and over worries. He has been sat between two very intelligent girls this term and I think its the teachers way of cutting down on any mischief. I can't decide though if its going to push him to try hard or just make him feel stupid.
I did explain to him last night, that he should never compare himself to anyone. He is Joe and he should just do the best that Joe can do. No one expects anymore than that. Just hope he gets it.

Had abit of good news this morning.
I turned up at the spa and they had also booked me in for a Reflexology session at 11am. So I earnt £65 this morning :T.
They owe me a total of £82.50. As soon as it goes into my account I will pay it against my NEXT bill.
They also said they will have quite a few sessions for me next week, which is encouraging.
The only thing I wish is that the Spa did payments on a certain day, like every Friday or something. the owner just does them ad-hoc when he thinks about it, which drives me mad.
I like to know and plan when the payments will be in my bank.
Nevermind. I shouldn't complain0 -
Wow just had a phone call from a woman that hubby is working for at this very moment.
He apparently over heard her trying to call places to book an Indian Head Massage. He put his head round the door and said "My wife does that" haha.
So I am booked in to do a treatment at 5pm.
Yay another £25. :T
Good old hubby :rotfl:
