We mums deserve a medal for the holidays. I've ran round the supermarket today and it was so quiet, I bought what I needed and no crap. I actually managed to look at stuff.

Wow yes Dawn, food shopping will be lots cheaper and less hassle from now on. I have spent way more than I should have done on food this last 6 weeks. Will be nice to get it under control again.

    Hi abba,

It certainly is stressful, hubby admitted yesterday that he hasn't slept properly for a week because of all the job quotes he is doing and the hope that more work will come in :(

He is ticking along ok now, but its a constant worry, especially as we are in a financial mess. Just want to fast forward this debt busting, but then I guess everyone wants to do that :o

    xx

Thanks Sweetpea, it was 76% until I checked the accounts online and had to add the interest and charges on :(. Oh well, I won't let a little set back stop me now.

It is only 71% of the 10k I thought I could possibly pay this year. Once I get to 100%, I will work out the percentage of what is left to pay next year. Probably around 9k.

Thought just looking at this years target would make me feel like I am making quicker progress to keep me going.

    Seems to be working xxx
  • Morning all,

Well last nights dinner went down like a lead brick :(. I made a Fish Pie from Jamie Oliver's book. Hubby and I really liked it, but they children flat out refused to eat it. Managed to get 1 fork full into their mouths but the looks on their faces was a picture.

Oh well it was worth a try. We have pea and prawn pasta bake tonight. Lets hope that goes better.

Bank account is looking ok. Got just enough to pay next week bills etc, so should stumble through this odd jobbing week ok thankfully.

I spoke to Barclays about my overdraft yesterday. I had sent them an income & Expenditure form as they were pushing for the full payment. I have been paying when £130 every month since January, so I offered them that and thankfully they have accepted it. I will apparently have a Default listed on my credit file and they are closing my account, but frankly there is no avoiding it as I haven't got £2400 to pay them so I am trying not to stress.

The only slight worry I have is about trying to get a better mortgage deal in the future with that Default listed, but I will cross that bridge when I get to it. I never want ANY credit other than my mortgage ever again so not that bothered.

Not heard from hubby Tesco cc yet regarding the Income & Expenditure form I sent them. Think they want to talk to him, but hubby flatly refuses to. I ask for it all to be done in writing but they seem to ignore that.

Not much else to report, just finishing my coffee then need to clean the bathrooms and possibly the windows later. Feeling abit lazy this week, think its the joy of the children back in school making me want to just enjoy the peace.

    Have a great day xxx

Hi Still following you progress you have done amazingly well .its such a pity that Bclys are threatening a default is there nothing you could do to stop it .No way of moving the money somewhere else it seems so wrong that this should happen after all your hard work. Good luck
  • Just an little update.

Just logged onto SKY to get the telephone number to call them about reducing my package, and noticed they now have a features removal section where you can reduce your package without having to call.

I went through the Cancel Movies section and they have now given it to me for free for 3 months. Children will be happy.

I know many advocate totally cancelling SKY tv, but seeing as I can just about pay my bills, and I don't drink, smoke or go out much, it is the one luxury we do enjoy.

Also just called BT about my phone & Broadband. Because we live in a very rural area, BT is the only provider that given decent broadband speeds. We have moved to others before with disastrous results.

As per usual though if you ring up as ask nicely they often always offer you a deal of some sort. I have now managed to reduce my Broadband down from £19 pm to £6 pm :T. I have signed up for another years contract but as we don't have any other choices it isn't a worry.

Glad I just did that. Abit of internet searching and 1 phone call and I have saved us £28 pm .

    Hi Fern,

    Thanks for posting xx

No I can't see anyway to avoid it. I don't have enough credit on any other cards to transfer that huge amount over, and with my credit history I doubt they would let me anyway.

There have been times that I have thought a lot worse was going to happen to us, so if I get out of this with just 1 default then I think I can count us very lucky.

    Shame but unavoidable :o
  • Woohoo I'm on a roll this morning.

Just switched electricity provider which should reduce my monthly direct debit down by £30 :j
