DPD joining the ranks of useless couriers

Options
So I was expecting a parcel from Phones4U...a free cover that was offered with my new phone and a prize from their current giveaway.

Had an email to say my prize was on its way and a couple of days later a DPD calling card was left. I went online and entered the details to be met with a message saying that it didn't exist. Their customer services also said they couldn't find a parcel against that card, nor did they have one for my postcode in their system. They could offer no help and told me they couldn't search by my name or first line of my address to help figure out where my parcel was either.

I rang P4U and they promised to call me back with a tracking number - they didn't although they did say up to 48 hours so I was prepared to ring back tonight to follow this up.

But I came home to a second DPD card...so I went online again to now be told that the parcel has already been booked for redelivery. I rang DPD to see if I could collect instead to be told 'oh it's been sent back to the sender as we've tried to deliver it so many times'

Er no I've had 2 cards only so either your driver is incompetent, your system is wrong or you are telling fibs. Anyway customer services person would not/could not do anything to stop my package making its way back to P4U.

So called P4U who have promised to call me when it arrives with them to arrange either an alternative delivery address or delivery to my local store instead.

I appreciate this is free stuff and pretty low value but it's the principle so I am loathed to just shrug it off and leave it up to fate to arrive. To be told that they tried to deliver on 13,14,16,17 and 18 but only have 2 cards is just annoying and ridiculous. Even more frustrating is the fact that I drive by their depot every day so collection would have been super easy.

Just needed a rant, been a long day!

DPD Email you with details of the delivery, a 1 hour time slot, Options to change delivery

Seems as if your joining the big pile of useless receivers who expect the world at no cost.

    Just don't work

They are about as useless as you are at reading I'd say. :p

They email you with details of the delivery and options to change the delivery, but if its sent express, you get that notification about 5 hours before, happened to me recently. Also, the last time I wanted to change delivery with DPD, it allowed me to do it 48 hours ahead and that was it

Ive had far less issues with DPD than any other company, but issues can arise no matter who your parcel is being sent with

SimonSays - yes I quite I agree with you...Had I have been given any such service my post would be entirely redundant. I would of course made sure I was home or collected my parcel or redirected it to somewhere else if any of those were actually on offer to me.

However I had no such thing whatsoever. No email, no time slots and no way of reorganising my delivery because either a) it didn't exist on their system despite a card suggesting otherwise or b) it was too late.

The first I knew that they had tried to deliver was Saturday...I wasn't home so missed it, and the second card was left today. Apparently though they also tried on Friday, Monday and Tuesday...why not leave cards then?

All I wanted was to be able to collect my parcel but it seems that was too much trouble for DPD.

If I confused you by saying I had an email saying my prize was on its way this was a generic notification from P4U not DPD. Whilst one may be upset with them for not providing me with a personalised email complete with DPD tracking details this is not the source of my issue...it is rather the fact that despite responding to both pieces of evidence that a delivery had been attempted I still don't have my parcel.

I also agree that any other courier could have given as naff a service and indeed from these forums it's clear that many do.

Still this is the board for venting...it seems it has served its purpose for me.

DPD dropped in my eye recently. Got the usual text that collection was booked in for x date, text back 1 to cancel 2 for y date 3 for z date. I responded '2', waited in all day on y date, no show, no communication. Contacted their 'make it right' team (claiming they respond within 90 mins during their hours), no response to date. Emailed the make it right manager, her colleague mailed back the next day after I'd had an automated test saying collection was booked in for 3pm on z date.

Long and short - they make offers of service they can't/don't follow through on, both the rebooking of collections on requested days and 90 min responses from customer services.

DPD are probably still the best of the bunch but are far from being as good as they like to make out.

I thought they were one of the better companies. Phone from Voda.

Several upgrades delivered by them now. Text about 7am give me a time slot and they are usually right on the 1st time mentioned or literally a couple of minutes off that time.

Sorry to hear you are having difficulties and cannot offer a solution. Over the past month I have had a number of DPD deliveries and in my experience have been fantastic. Have always received the email and delivery has usually been at the beginning of the one hour schedule. I think the driver also appreciates being thanked by calling him by name! George is my regular delivery person!

Another thumbs up for DPD here, I sign a little sigh of relief when I see something I've ordered is coming from them. I like knowing an hour time slot (never had one missed) and its a nice touch to be able to say 'Thanks Pete' or 'Thanks Garry' as you know their name from the text.
