I'm busy selling all the contents of house so that in five weeks time I shall move myself and my 3 boys to Northern Ireland - a place I haven't visited in 25 years and I won't be moving to the areas that I have been to. Am I worried or questionning...absolutely not. It is an adventure...life is :j:j

Wow those housing rules stink, you'd think after 5 years you would have qualified.

At one point you had to live there for 20 years before you could rent or buy in your own name. When I was there they'd stopped even that. I think you can 'qualify' now again with a lesser period of time spent there, but I don't regret moving home. Twenty years is a long time to be paying somebody else's mortgage before you can start on your own. I bought a 3 bed house for the same price as a 4 room 1 bed attic flat somebody I knew there had.

My only slight hesitation would be in the form of a question: have you ever been on holiday to this place out of season? I have very fond memories of holidays in Broadstairs - the sun always shone, at least I always ended up sunburnt! - but I wouldn't want to move there permanently unless I'd spent some time there in the dead of winter. (Actually I wouldn't want to move there at all, but you get my point.)
Broadstairs is fantastic every month of the year - and in easy reach of other places with lots going on too :D I count myself lucky every day that we have been able to move here :T
