Bascally as new but with only a 12m warranty.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Humax Direct are selling "Grade A" HDR-1000S 500gb models for £159

We bought one and I can't see why it is a graded product. Works perfectly and came all boxed up with all plastic over it. Full 12 month warranty too.

I use homeplugs with it and no issues watching all the connected services. If you are thinking of using them try not to use them in extension leads if you can help it. Dedicated sockets give best speeds.

Humax also do a wireless dongle for £29 if you can't do the homeplugs.

I am thinking of buying one of these myself; but the same model with double the recording facility, is from memory,(as I can't get the link to work,)only about £20 or £30 extra. The thing that would sway me one way or the other, is that they are equally reliable.

Any thoughts / Thanks in anticipation.

Why would they not be as reliable? Any faults have been corrected in the refurb, and there's nothing much to go wrong in a PVR (apart from the eventual inevitable drive failure). That's the only moving part.
1GB model is in stock at £189.

  • I did look at that model too, but we don't fill the 500GB one so only went with the cheaper one. No issue with it so far. It upgraded to the latest firmware when we switched it on, and all the catchup and Media Streaming has been fine.
