    Shirley if you don't have an inter-web YouView is kind of pointless.

    Yes, you can go cheaper than YouView, especially if you're not going to use the on demand part, but I still say that the YouView box has the best user interface, and is the best FreeviewHD recorder that I know of. It should also have decent resale value, and can be used online later if you do get BB.

    .......and they only have a single tuner, so you cannot record one channel and watch another. Only really useful if you have a Humax or a Sky + box as well.
    There are some sets with twin tuners so watching one thing and recording another is possible but they are rare and expensive.

    A separate box is a lot easier.

    Thanks all.

    She has been talked into this by someone she knows and trusts so I think she's keeping it. I don't think she's made the right choice but it's not down to me.

    I think it will end up as an expensive TV set that she won't be able to use properly, either for the recording or smart features.

    Pity, because used properly, the extra features provide another level of viewing experience.
