Hey again!
Thank you for the support for the blog, not sure if I will yet but will do my research on it. I've been jotting down ideas and started writing starter posts, I need to dedicate some time to it though.
I'm aiming to complete level 3 in 6 months jonesy, not sure it'll happen but might as well try. September is CIMA time isn't it? How is your prep going?
Thank you for the virtual hug giblet
I'm not too well at the moment, but I actually had a successful doctors appointment! I have 2 new pain killers to try with him requesting me to come back to him for a check up. I'm probably going to have more tests for arthritis, I have these at least once a year because my hands are getting mangled, one finger is bending towards the left. Doctors freak out about it, start poking it and then sometimes speak in Latin. I then crack at them because they get grossed out. Bwah ha ha! /evil
My investment is up £70ish! This makes me happy, that's a day and a bit of work there!
Now cash savings, I am displeased! Tsb has cut their old current account interest rate from 3% to somewhere around 1% !! This change will occur in November which means that I have 5k to find a home for. Please note, this does not affect the tsb 5% on 2k accounts.
So I've come up with the following options:
Open club Lloyd's, ensuring that I transfer the 1.5k in and out each month. I need to transfer two dds, which is a problem, as I don't have enough for my Halifax and this account. I would need to open a savings account with a dd or open a cc and set up a dd for that. Or both!
Open 2 tesco 3% accounts.
Open a bos vantage account, identical to my earlier account. There is no guarantee how long this account will be available for.
My thinking is option 1 is the best, I've been wanting to get myself a cash back cc for a while. I'll then make sure I spend on both cards at least once a month.
Budget wise, I believe I am inside it! I will do a proper add up and report back. Next month I am on holiday, I will add £100 to my budget for this. I will also need to buy my prescriptions on Tuesday, around £25 worth.
I have a £10 voucher for m&co, Christmas socks ahoy! Does anyone else do this? Stock up on the normal prezzies when you have a time limited voucher.
Hope everyone is well. Also hope this post makes sense, having a terrible case of fibrofog right now.0 -
So sorry about the pain, that sounds really difficult. Your post made perfect sense tho - it's so hard to find a decent home for savings! xDebt remaining:

It is so awkward to find enough space for savings >.< Nationwide Flexdirect account's 5% only lasts for a year, so soon I will need to find space for that somewhere too.
Don't worry about the pain giblet, I'll be fine.
Just need to rest up for a bit.
I have been approved for a cashback credit card! :j Will do my general shopping and bits on this, making sure to use the other one for about £10 a month. Am very pleased, I didn't realise how anxious I'd be when it was deciding whether to approve me or not.
I did tally up how much I spent last month and I came around £50 under budget! Woo!
Anyone reading any good finance books? I have a hankering..0 -
Hey you.
Coming in to give the sweary old lady gentle hugs. I am sorry you are struggling with pain at the minute. I am very lucky mine is confined to back and hips. If it were all over I don't think I would get out of bed so I admire you lots!
I am not reading any books at the moment. I just D/L your very kind offering though and will be starting that soon!

Millionaire next door is very good lilt, I hope you enjoy it. Thank you for the old lady hugs!
Spent over £30 today! Most was on medication, had to have a meeting with the pharmacist about them. I understand why they do them but I needed to go back to work!
I did however get some Christmas presents today! I had a voucher for £10 that would expire in a couple of months and the shop has a sale of socks. What else could I have done?! Ended up spending £2 on 6 pairs of kitty, squirrel, puppy and Owl socks. /awesome
I also can't be trusted to be around people, started talking to this poor cashier about current account interest rates. The poor fella.

Aww! What a cute puddy cat!
I too bore people with finance stuff
. CIMA on the old syllabus has exam sittings in May and November, so I'm in college Aug/Sept/Oct for the winter sitting. So far i'm keeping up, i really need to set time aside though as things get harder though.
If you are interested in going down the CIMA route, from 2015 its all change, with 4 sittings per year, extra case studies but more computer based exams.:rudolf: DF by Xmas 2018: #83 £8,250/£15,000 55% :rudolf:
SPC 7: #135 :staradmin | MFW 9.72% | Groceries: £6.49/£80 | Exercise 0/20 | NSDs 0/150 -
Firstly - the socks sound amazing. Well worth the money, obviously.
Second, that cat is adorable. Love it :j
I also bore many people about MSE stuff - one of my friends and I can literally spend ALL day on the subject. Thank goodness for all you lovely people on here so we can [STRIKE]bore[/STRIKE] inspire each other, lol
Hope you're doing good KP

Would love to spend a day in a room with a few of the MSE bunch just jabbering away. We would have such fun!
Mocktails and income tax checker and kittens and foooooooooood....
Loving the cat. I love kittens. I have a video somewhere of Jellytot doing that exact same thing into her food.
Huggles to all.

An MSE would be great fun, but obviously it would have to be budget friendly :rotfl::rotfl: We would have to have a talking piggy bank to let everyone have a go!
Aww Jellytot :)The first time she brings a boy home, that video has to come out!
Why is CIMA changing like that? I get the different SORPs and stuff but why change the way it is taken? I suppose it gives more flexibility.. But I'm sure you'll do brilliantly.
I have my AAT Level 2 certificate! I also have my next exam booked (£55ish-ouch)! I'm behind on my studying due to ill health, I really hope that it ends okay.
I also have my new credit card! I have a very palatable limit of £500, which is exactly what I was hoping for. Any more than that would be a total waste for me. DD is already set up to pay off the full amount each month and feeling pretty pleased with myself. Have to say, was surprised that it's a "platinum" card, does this mean anything?
No more buying books for me. I have neither the money or the space to store them. So I'm joining at least one library. On a similar thought, it's time to get rid of my stuff.
Right now, I have nearly £14k in cash savings and around £4.6k in investments. I now need to start a pension which I have put off for far too long. I'd like to get to £20k in cash savings then save up for a tablet and then move out of the family home.
Hope you all are well. x0 -
I worked for Cap 1 for a while in my youth Peaty. The 4 numbers at the front of the card denote what 'type' of customer you are. They aren't random... there are usually 2-3 types of number per company and those are what make you special or not. In terms of sales, back when I had to sell PPI  and other such claimable items the higher card numbers meant the more commission we got. I sucked, because I realised at the young age of 18, 10 years ago, that PPI was a complete racket so I refused to sell it. I quit after a short space of time.
I've got a platinum MBNA card... I got it because my 'credit rating' was good when I applied. I got a decent deal on it, and a £1500 limit. And then I get a lot of offers for balance transfers and suchlike. I too pay it off in full these days. Back when I was in debt and my ex had promised money he owed me to pay it off... I paid £812 in one year in interest. I paid a whole £30 off the actual balance in 10 months. That was when Kat came along and saved me.
Where have you invested may I ask? I work in the field so spend all day investing money for other people, switching between funds, using Unit Trusts to fund (N)ISA's and watching the money roll in. Wish I had had some money in 2009/10. One of my clients divorced her hubby and got a pension sharing order. he had to hand over half his pension to her. It was about £300k... in 12 months through our investing it, she had made over £46k because she invested it just at the lowest point of the market. Was incredible to watch! I keep thinking of investing into an ISA myself with Fidelity FundsNetwork. Supermarket, so access to every fund going. But I don't have the money to be honest. Would love to be in your position... especially at your age. Then again, I bought a house when I was 19 so I must have had some money... Lol.
