Home for Christmas?

No, I'm staying put. Just me and the kids.
Don't really have a home to go to, so I stay in this one. I like this one.0 -
We'll be staying home....i'm agoraphobic, my parents will visit us either on the day or Christmas eve but only for a little while. OH hasn't got any family that live close so thats the only visit we get. I like it that way, means we can work to our schedule and not other peoples.0

After we get up and exchange our gifts from each other we will be going to my parents Christmas morning (OH dropping me off then rejoining us after his 2hr shift at work) and then mid afternoon/early pre-evening (around 4ish I would expect) we will go to his parents for more relaxing with family, gift exchanges and supper before heading back to our own home

I can't wait and wouldn't have it any other way ... although as of next year every third year will be our turn to host Christmas dinner at our house. We have a tiny bungalow but I'm so exciting about everyone coming together. I spend all year getting excited for our together Christmas!************************************

I'll be going home to my parents' house... all of 1 mile away
Only for the day though. Although when I lived on my own (still only 5 mins away) I used to stay there for a couple of days. OH and I will be there from lunchtime till sometime after tea, then home to slob out with the xbox and the christmas sweets. Can't wait
My sister lives about 10 houses away from our parents and she'll be staying with them for at least 3 days, then back again for NYE.0 -
I go "home" for xmas every year - its nearly 400 miles away.
Its where my mum and 2 siblings are, plus nearly all my extended family.
I love it
- my sibling who lives near me, and her family, all go "home" too. We spend 4 or 5 days there, then come back to where we live. 0 -
I "went home" to do an early Christmas thing & drop off presents at the end of November & came back, shattered, livid & utterly thankful they don't expect to see us for a few months.
My family (husband & children) & I will celebrate Dec 25 how we see fit, dressed as we see fit, eating what we like when we're hungry & generally having a good time.0 -
Dd has been married 5 years and we've spent one Christmas Day with them . Ds has his own home and family and not been invited for Christmas lunch , ever ! They both live close to us and come to us alternate Christmas lunchtime . I don't particularly love cooking and when dd comes she is a great help .They don't even mind taking their children away from their toys to come to us . We'd happily go to their home , just so the little ones could continue playing of course !0

My parents come to mine at Christmas"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
I'm a similar situation to OP, and I'm going home. On Saturday as it happens
. OH is going to his parents who live about a mile or two away from us.
Since we don't spend the real days together, we have a sort of Christmas for ourselves before I go. I don't cook a full-on turkey dinner, but I put up decorations, we exchange our gifts to each other and do stockings, have special food and drink we wouldn't usually get, and just enjoy spending time together. Like the real one!
We've done this the last few years. I can't imagine not having my Christmas with my family, I'd be so upset if I couldn't. No idea when I'll stop going there or what we'll do instead. Most of my extended family live around the same area as my parents do, so my visiting means I get to see the whole lot of them as well!0 -
I'll be going to my parents who live a few mins away with DH.
I can't imagine just being here just the two of us, it would just seem like a normal weekend.
So we head over late morning, do all the present swapping and then eat the dinner and then play games.m
Then go home in the evening, then back again the next day when some relatives come round and do more presents and slightly lighter food!
